Hey Alkibiades, I just read the saying you have in your signature and I think it fits the topic of this thread:

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

And I just showed you that a hybrid console can release enough games to keep most people busy for a year. The Wii U's main problem, and to a lesser extent the 3DS, were droughts.

It's about Athens crushing Melos, but in the end Athens lost the war and their city was captured by the Spartans.

That doesn't help with the people that want western third parties... Just because there are games available doesn't mean people are happy with them... Just look at the vita, it had tons of japanese third party support and it sold like arse.

Did the Vita have mainline Dragon Quest games? Monster Hunter? Yokai Watch? I don't think so...

This.
If it wants to be successful it needs to capture an audience that's not already buying everything Nintendo. Having a console that runs every 3rd party game would be a start, but we can cross that off our list already.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Still the same results, to be honest. People who buy Nintendo already are going to be all over that. Other than that, there is almost nothing there that is going to pull people away from an Xbox or Playstation purchase.

Having a home console Pokémon could do that. The hardware boost between the 3DS and the Switch is probably the biggest leap since handheld gaming started. Don't underestimate this. A lot of people, including non-Nintendo fans, are waiting for a home console experience Pokémon game... And before you say the Switch isn't powerful enough to give us that feel: I'll just direct you to Breath of the Wild.
