Forums - Gaming - PlayStation Vue support launches for Android TVs today.

Sony announced today that its television streaming service Vue is "coming soon" to PC and Mac. Starting today, the app is available on Android TVs.

Also...

PC and Mac support is coming with a feature called "mini-player," which allows the viewer to put Vue in the corner of the screen and browse the internet or use other applications while they watch. We'll keep you updated on when Vue heads to both platforms.

If you don't own a PS4 or PS3, you can sign up for Vue online. Those new to the streaming service can start a seven-day free trial through the website and download the Vue app to an Android TV running OS 4.4 or higher. You can check out the four different plans at the bottom of the article.

In addition to Android TVs, Vue is currently available on PS4, PS3, Roku, and iOS and Android mobile devices. Up to five devices can simultaneously stream Vue on one account.

Is that possible?  how much does vues rivals make in profit and revenue a year?

It doesnt really matter. Lets look at it this way instead.

The success of PSvue isnt tied to any Playstation console . Its a standalome servixe and is now going to be available on everything. PC, Mac, Android TV, Android mobile, Roku, amazon devices....etc.

Now the only question is how good and cost effective is its service. And by all indications it service is spot on and is currently regarded to as the best cord cutting TV service on the market. So as is the case already adoption will keep going up.

just between the 4 major pay TV providers in NA there are currently 70M+ subscribers (Comcast, direct tv, charter and dish network). And there are like 4 more I'm not even factoring in (which currently sit at around 15M subscribers).

At the rate Sony is going, in 5yrs it's not unreasonable to say they couldn't have amassed around 20M subscribers. Stealing a little from everyone else and pulling in their own first time subscribers. This is disabled primarily because PSvue is currently the service with the best value and arguably the cheapest. (let's not forget that every PSvie service comes packed with Service wide DVR).

Now the PSVue service ranges from $30-$50/month. So let's just use a $40 average. That amounts to a revenue of $9.6B/year from a 20M sub base.

And the single biggest advantage Sony has? They can set up a PSvue service in every major region in the world. NA, Canada, UK, Parts of Europe.....etc.

If it's coming to android, it won't be long before other devices such as Chromecast, Firestick etc start having it.

Once it's firmly established, I can See Sony having their own dedicated channel with their own programmes and films on there. Imagine Crackle, but with proper financial backing.

I Think Sony might become the first major IPTV service player and if they can get their shit sorted, they may even lead the world in it.

Not sure how much Sky and Virgin make since Sky make tons by selling Broadband, TV and telephone packages, have their own channels and their subscription service. Virgin has phone, broadband, cable and ppv packages.

Sony at the moment only offers IPTV meaning you still have to take out broadband with someone else.
