You would choose to think negatively of any situation involving Nintendo, but I guess there is nothing really wrong with that. Though as others have already said, I think it's far more likely that they're avoiding having to compete with the holiday buzz and advertising when they have all the time and attention to themselves. Surely you can agree that this makes a lot of sense.

You gotta admit that it would minimize negative press. The only way it could do any better would be if they found a way to launch it that same day. And its not like console makers didn't do reveals to lower the impact of a rival. Sony did it to MS when they did their reveal. MS even sent workers to Best Buy to counter Wii U when they were doing their E3 at Best Buy event. Nintendo could have just as easily did this with Switch this holiday season. Instead they decided to wait. I'm thinking because they are not confident in their product.

you must know some of Nintendo's staff and their current morale pretty well.

That's a long wait before any significant info is released and very little time before launch. My guess is that it's to minimize negativity once the bad news start rolling in.

Sure that makes but there's no reason not to release information now in October. It's less than 6 months (closer to 5 months) until the NX's release. Why no games lineup reveal? Then they'll have to do PR and marketing for the hardware and the dozen or so games to be released in less than 2 months. The PS4 had 9 months from reveal to release.

Yeah, I'm not sure that they want a Saturn 2.0.

It's nice that they gave a confirmed date ahead of time at least, so that way there's no speculation about when the event would be and it makes the wait seem not as long.

I'm excited!

I don't get it man. You bought a WiiU, right? But now you want to pass on Switch for a PS4 Pro? Nintendo making a "tablet" changed your opinions on horsepower and game design? How? Why?

Nintendo was also still using their own custom setup. There was always room for growth with Wii U and it showed further in the generation with XCX. We know what a Tegra can do. There will be no real growth after launch with Switch. What we see at this presentation will most likely be the best the machine will ever be able to do. That is why we needed raw power out of the gate because devs know how far it can go with these machines.

Yes, I bought 2 Wii U consoles and love them. It will most likely be the last console Nintendo ever makes. I loved all the consoles Nintendo has made but calling a tablet a console is like calling a hot dog cart a 5 star resturant.

So is Nintendos new console basically a third party console with Nintendo logo slapped on it?

How would it minimize negative press in any way? It's only the opposite since there's less time for people to forget or come to terms with the bad news.

Nah. Couldn't care less. I don't know how they can try to hype up a Nintendo branded 720p tablet, but it will be interesting to see them try.

By then I'll more than likely be looking at getting a PS4 Pro.

lol you keep saying this on every thread but I think that you are going to buy the system day one.
