Apple did the same with Iphone 7, it is nothing new to see that tech gets copied from China/east aswell happens everywhere.
They also have shown in Iwata Asks, former WiiU prototypes years ago and some of them basically were two controllers (WiiMotes) on a screen, I would say this product looks like a rip-off of Nintendos public made prototypes and patents. Which most likely is the main reason why no big distributer bothered with this product.

It's kind of funny how the NX turned out to be pretty much exactly like this thing. I'm not sure, but didn't these guys say there were no parties interested in buying and distributing this? So what happened, Nintendo got lazy and were the ones that bought this concept, or did they really have the same idea? Nintendo's got to have known about this.

This concept has been around for so long that chances are this chinese company just tried to make it first. The execution does not look great though.
Maybe that's why they were so paranoid about the possibility of other companies copying the product, because it was already partly copied, or maybe they did see the idea and improved it, how are we supposed to know?
Yeah, and tablets existed before the iPad. So what? There is a massive gulf between this thing and the NS.

The patents with the detachable controller went public august 2016.
The idea of a mobile gaming console with console like gaming is older then the wii u.
