If true, that's a mistake. They should aim for something like $200.

I would buy it for $300, since it's the only place to play the best games on the market, but a lot of undecided buyers will balk at that price tag.

Nintendo needs to offer to consumers a low entry barrier, both in cost and technology.

That's the role of the 3DS and the smartphone games.

If NX fulfills the promise of a true competitive alternative to X1, PS4, then $300 is an okay price point. Depends on whether or not a game is bundled in there.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Can it fulfill that promise? The only reason to use that kind of power would be to placate third party developers, who may not bother to support the system anyway. Even if they do support NX, why would people buy ANOTHER expensive system when they can already play Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and FIFA on Xbox, PS, or PC.

The extra power wouldn't do that much for Nintendo first party games, which will sell with relatively low-end graphics.

It makes more sense to manufacture a cheap system that's easy to sell. The Nintendo fans will buy it. The fair-weather fans will buy it. The Xbox/PS owners will buy it as a secondary system. But only if the price is right.

Someone said in another thread it was now rumored over 3 teraflops.

I thought the same as you on the price when I saw the first rumor but if it is as powerful as the above rumor then the price seems fair.

It isn't about the prive being fair, It's what group of people will this appeal to. Expensive cuts out the casual, not being mainstream as well as the other 2 consoles being in 40 mil+ homes kind of etches out the other.

At that price it WILL have to be lightning in a bottle again, whether the console is worth the asking price or not.

350 is a lot, best have some outstanding games!

basicly at 350 they are saying its not competing with the xbox one and ps4 but more something between those and the pro, or they need to bundle it with zelda, then its like a 1TB-current gen model. anyway, seems steep for a low powered hybrid, I would like to see it at lower price then the Xbox and PS4, maybe 199,- to 249,- and sell the docking station seperate.

That's true. Who knows at this point?  300-350 might be a bundle with the dock (if true) and maybe the entry handheld is around $199.  If it is really a dual setup I think they need a lower price entry point on the handheld.  If the dock really does add power to it for third party it could be an add on accessory buy or bundled for the $300-350.  At least then there'd be options and the lower price point might grow the base more quickly.

Exactly, you can't charge $100+ at the beginning of the life of a console and it be vastly weaker than what's available for the same price (maybe a higher price tag than the competition).

In all honesty, I really do think Nin wanted to come out with a half ass machine they simply aren't able to now.

I'm 100% sure.

*edit* I do think Nintendo are shitting themselves with the new reveals. I actually do. Prove me wrong Ninten.
