For Honor is a game that I'll probably get when it's heavily discounted. I like the look of it, but that's not enough to buy it full price for me. Also, the always online thing put me off as well.

Gravity Rush 2 is amazing. Its rather foolish to hinge so much on a single opinion. Besides its not a game you can rent and be done with. I've played it for twenty hours now and haven't completed it yet. The game has amazing physics and open world both in terms of level design and aesthetics and a very good protagonist. It does have some poor side quests though and its not amazing in every way. I'd say its the third best superhero game this generation after Batman Arkham Knight and Infamous Second Son. Definitely a game you should play if you like third person action games. |
I agree, the game has some flaws (especially the story and some bosses/levels, like Versus Evil said) but it's an overall amazing experience, it's kinda what Gravity Rush 1 should have looked like.
I finished it in 40-50 hours and need some grind now for the platinum. Most of the side quests didn't bother me at all, I even found their diversity interesting (at least it's not "OMG, Nevis! Kill them!" all the time). Complaining about "force stealth" when it's something like 2 or 3 side quests out of 50 seems a bit exaggerated...

Agreed, it's hideous. |
For some reason, I feel that the ugly design was intentional, lol. It just looks so... trolly.
I won´t touch For Honor, looks like a modified moba to me. Online only also puts me way off.
I think Nioh will be better for my tastes, but I´ll will also wait on it. I just started Yakuza 0 this weekend and then will go straight to Horizon.
Horizon and Nioh are february´s highlight to me.

I haven't, but a friend said he liked it despite the fact he found it quite difficult. He also said the maps weren't as big as he expected. Didn't say much else, he isn't super into games but he likes all that Viking/Samurai etc stuff. How have you found it? |
i loved it. i put 5 hours in the first day. and i started playing after i came back from work, ate and got settled in so i had less than half a day. overall me and my brother put 15+ hours into the beta. around 12~ were me.
it is hard, specially when you are playing against people who actually know how to play. this isnt like your average FPS, where if you know how to play one, you will most likely know how to play most. if you play mindlessly, chances are you will get wrecked. which i can understand is something that will put a lot of people off. but for those who like tactical gameplay that requires skill and thought, this game is fantastic.
there is a steep learning curve, there are a lot of mechanics to learn, and then to practice and master, it will take time. nobody can really judge this game based on just one hour of playtime.
there are some inbalances of course. as with any multiplayer game. but they arent super drastic and i can see them being tweeked. the game needs more modes too, but there is atleast one more mode that i am sure off, and lots more maps.
something i will say is that each mode offers something truly different. 1v1 is a lot different than the 4v4 dominion mode. how you play is different and how you approach things are different. which is something i love, i love it when a game is action based yet tactical.
this isnt going to be everyones cup of tea, and if you arent interested in vikings, samurai, kinghts or sword fights in general then chances are this game wont grip you much. but it offers such an inteste, skill based gameplay that isnt in any other game. the closest that comes to mind (from what i played) is bloodborne's PvP. but the 1v1 in For Honor is more intense and tactical and frankly more refiend.

| BraLoD said: For Honor is the kind of game that gets boring within a hour. Sadly, that's what I expected. Also, the fighting mechanics are completely broken, you can literally do nothing in a 2 vs 1 fight, I watched a guy play, he was owned by the bot that you have to beat before being able to try the online, and he destroyed on the online because his team would always group in an individual and easily kill him, I can understand that being the case with group attacks, but 2 vs 1 is already basically impossible, and there is a whole mode designed around 2 vs 2 fights, it's just people running and trying to get 2 vs 1 on someone until it happens, there is really no "Honor" on it, lol. |
having played the beta for around 12 hours, i highly disagree.
you cant complain that a game is broken because 2 people have a much higher chance at beating 1 person.
the fighting mechanics are anything but broken, at worst they are unbalanced, but every multiplayer game has its unbalances. No, 2v1 is not impossible having killed 2 people multiple times. its difficult, its hard, but its certainly not impossible. the revenge mode is placed for that very reason. its to give a bigger chance of coming out alive in a 2v1 fight, and its doable.
most people dont run away trying to 2v1 their oppont in the 2v2 mode. and if they do, you can catch up rather quickly, and take out the guy from the back. its not a smart strategy. some people do it, but majority dont.
have you even played the beta?

Very sad about this, since I love the deus ex series...also the 2nd game in the deal, might be a guardians of the galaxy one.

a guardians of the galaxy game can turn out to be quite good actually. since it will most likely be a sci-fi shooter. they can stick to regular 3rd person shooting mechanices and build a good game around it. avengers on the other hand will be difficult to make, because making interesting gameplay for thor, captain america and hulk will be difficult. the super powers those guys have dont lend them selfs well to video games.
i hope the new IP that was being made at crystal dynamics isnt scrapped for this deal though, that would blow ass.

Yeah I feel the same way, a guardians of the galaxy game done right could be very good if done right. Could see it being similar to mass effect, a sci-fi shooter with rpg elements. Being able to explore planets with the crew gives a lot of possibilities.
Avengers one, I can't see where they're going with that one, maybe a marvel ultimate alliance approach, but that seems doubtful. I could see playing as some heroes fun, but others like the ones you mentioned are a little more difficult to make levels for.
