I'm not sure. If you could access the game market without one (Dunno if you can, just saying), then you shouldn't have any problem doing so.

I did some snooping and apparently a free account will still let you buy games digitally, (just not play online, which is no problem for me as I hate online play) so thanks for the suggestion. :)

At this point, the free account gives you EVERYTHING except certain discounts, "free" Games With Gold, and online play.
