I was in my own world at that time. I thought the success from the PS1 to the PS2 would carry on to the PS3 as well, despite the price. But it all came tumbling down with the bad press and all the grill pics. I still wanted to the PS3, and I have one now since my birthday, but I highly doubt it will get anywhere near the Wii. Maybe above the 360 into second place...considering the 360 is having trouble against the PS3 in pretty much every country except America. But it doesn't really matter to me, I got the console I want and will be getting the games I want for it.

the still will at the end of it be the clear winner.

the way a 400/500 dollar Ps3 is kicking 360s ass world wide its plain as day to see that at a 200/300 price this thing will easily pull PS2 numbers.

get it through your heads, a 5 year cycle did not bring in enough $, so they are going for 10 years this way they get 6/7 years of profits.

I don't think anyone could be faulted for thinking Sony would win this generation.. but those who still think it will are just denying reality.

PS3 is to expensive it will die, it has no games it will die, FF GT wont come soon enough PS3 is dead.
FF and MGS will go multiplatform.
PS3 has no good games it will never sale well.
3rd party devs will jump to the wii lol
PS3 is to hard to program for, its to expensive to program for no one will make PS3 exclusives.
Blu ray will die it will kill the PS3 it was useless.

BR smashed hddvd, its gaing ground on dvd now its become a huge advantage for the PS3
PS3 is out selling the 360 in Europe even at twice the price, its out selling it overall WW.
FF and MGS are still exclusives, 3rd parytys have not swiched to the wii.

No differant then what hapepn with BluRay, you all were so sure it would fail and ruin the PS3 but now its a huge winner for Sony and a big advantage for PS3

If that 10 year plan really works out, has yet to be seen. PS2 is still doing well after 8 years but that's due to its current price point and the broad library of games and casual appeal.
I doubt that the hardcore and tech fanatics will still praise their PS3 in 8 years from now ... I don't even know why they made up that 10 year plan, probably to justify the initial high cost of the device ....
At least you most likely will have replaced your original PS3 several times by then due to failure of components over the years. A slot-in drive isnt made for years to come, as it seems that most electronics is only made for no longer than 2 years to work without failure ....

I wouldn't say that winning by about 25,000(22 March week) is "kicking ass".  I do have to ask though, how much has the PS3 out sold the 360 so far during its winning streak?

OT:  I thought that the PS3 would win by the end of the generation simply off of brand name and possible later-released games.  However, I did think that with a large price difference, the Wii would end pretty close to the PS3, and the PS3 wouldn't have the success of the PS2.

 People always forget that its not just Sony who gets money for every bluray product sold ... The blu ray group consists of 9 companies after all ... The PS3 player argument will fade away as soon as new 2.0 profile players are out which are by far cheaper in the near future anyway, and that won't be 10 years away from now ...

If you look at the big picture, don't look through Sony coloured glasses :)

The Wii would sell well, but it was gonna be the next GC
with no 3rd party support.

Alas, everything switched places.
The Wii became the fastest selling console
PS3 never made it past 3rd place
and the x360 managed to get a hold
of the HD console market in the US
and to some extent UK (not Others, Sony
rules those waters).
