Very brief analysis for PC.

Just watched it! Looking good from initial impressions on the PC version. Finally it seems like PC users got a port from MS for a big game that is up to snuff. I will still wait for the full performance before hitting that buy button tho.
The performance is also great on x1 too

Not that we need to go over this again, but PC users have already gotten good ports from Microsoft. OT: Be interesting to see how well the multi GPU stuff holds up! |
Meh, I wouldn't say so however I guess the definition of what a good port is changes from person to person.. But yes, lets leave that for another thread :P

You wouldn't say so, but it's proven to BE so. A good port is a good port - one that works well, looks great, and performs up to standard. There isn't an argument on whether they've provided that, unless you'd prefer to live in naivety. |
How so? Even the DF dude agrees in the video...

Agrees that this is Microsoft 's first successful port on the PC? And? I'd tell him he's wrong, too. |
Well, he analyzes this stuff for a living and makes comparisons for every game that comes out on respective platforms so...
He didn't say it was MS's first successful port but a port that is truly "worthy" of their platform.

Yes, which is different from what you said. In regards to what he analyzes, as a Game Designer/Developer, so do I. I just don't make money reporting on it. |
How is it different from what I said? I didn't say MS didn't have "successful" ports. A successful port can mean anything such as that Ori game which isn't very demanding.
I said "Finally it seems like PC users got a port from MS for a big game that is up to snuff. " Just cross out the "big game" since you quoted before I had a chance to edit it. But considering our last discussion, you should know what I was referring to. Also he does mention how much of a better port GoW4 is than GoWU.
And yes, I am sure you do and your work is quite impressive from what I have seen. No doubt about that. But what does him making money have to do with anything? The way he makes money is by reporting correctly otherwise, people won't watch the channel and call him out on it.

You brought up what he does "for a living". That's where $ came into this discussion, which, yes, was 100% irrelevant. |
Yes but to me sounded like you were questioning his legitimacy, which if you weren't, I apologize for.

I will make a definition, a good PC port is one that works with little or no crashing. As long as its PLAYABLE with reasonable specs, its good.
Anywho, all of MS's releases have been improved post release so if you don't like where they are at launch just wait. We are at a point where almost every game gets significant patches post launch, console or PC.
OT: The game looks great. Curious to see how it reviews.

I am not a fan of that definition. My definition is that a good port must run at specs that makes sense. For example, a game should not require 970/390 in order to match x1's graphical settings. A 390/970 should at a minimum, go beyond (to a certain degree) that with a smooth 60fps lock at 1080p.
Thats exactly what I do but I generally wait for a sale while I am at it or forget about it and skip it completely. And personally, I don't like that games require post patches in order to work the way it's meant to be at launch. Yes, that seems to be a thing these days on all platforms but it shouldn't be hence why I vote with my wallet.

All of MS's releases are playable with less than a 970 or a 390, those cards give performance and graphics well above X1 is doing.
If you're going to skip a game completely because the optimization isn't exactly where you want, then you probably didn't care about the game to begin with.
Waiting for price cuts its fine, especially when you consider most games tend to get better months after release.
