Anime.

You get to see all the characters in colour and in motion, hear the voice cast they felt suited for the characters and the soundtrack to go with their settings.

Anime. Only manga I ever read was Naruto, and that was because I got sick of waiting on filler.

I actually didn't mind the infinite tsukoyomi fillers. As long as they were, they were way better than Kaguya's fight...heck, besides the first filler arc, I found the majority of Shippuden's fillers to be decent or amazing(like the Power arc)

If you were given the manga and anime version of a series, would you read it or choose to watch the anime instead?

Edit; in this hypothetical situation, the manga and anime are of equal quality

What do you mean by equal in quality? What aspects are you refering to?
If every single aspect was equal in quality, then anime would be superior since it has audio and animations. Or am I missunderstanding the question?

That is however never the case, which is why I some times prefer manga over anime, or vice versa.

You're overthinking this :P

I didn't put too much thought into this. it's an apples vs oranges thing

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Anime. Specifically dubbed anime. I know I'm a horrible person for preferring dub to sub. But I can't fucking stand the over the top Japanese VA. Maybe to some people it's fine but to me it's like stabbing a knife into an eardrum. Also all Japanese VA for girls sound the fucking same, barely above sounding like a chipmunk.

One other thing. People often say sub is more faithful to the original... that's not always the case. As someone who knows about as much Japanese as a Japanese 2 year old (took it for a year and a half and study it on my free time when I'm not doing French) I can tell you right now a lot of that sub shit doesn't match what the Japanese VA is actually saying. I don't have specific examples but if you wanna watch anime "pure", just learn the language

This.

There are also other things to consider like when extremely norwegian descent / african american characters sounding very japanese. Which to me is just awkward. And although most characters are japanese, a lot of them don't look like it.

I'm going to say anime too, but I love to read manga as well. With a good animation, art style and good voice actors anime really can bring a manga to life. But anime are not always equals to the original manga.... The "equal quality" assumption here makes me vote for anime, but it's usually 50/50 depending on the series.

Yeah, 40+ members when I was there. Keep in mind half of my high school was Korean so the amount of people who liked anime was extremely high

Did you... go to school in Korea?

No, Oregon

huh, didn`t realise Oregon had that much of a Korean population.

It does. My area is full of Koreans XD there's a small Indian population too. With barely any black or Latino at all. It's so odd
