Anyone think we'll get wewantdrew chants on Friday?

Wwes booking is puzzling unless the idea is to turn Cody heel.

No, Drew’s not over enough to get that kind of traction.

And Cody getting a title shot after weeks of Drew screwing him over is nowhere near as egregious as Cody winning the Rumble only for Rock to come in and take his spot because he’s The Rock and NOW he wants to wrestle.

From a kayfabe perspective, no. There is no reason for anyone to be upset about Cody getting a title shot.

From a non-kayfabe perspective, it's WWE pushing someone who the fans are tiring a bit of over someone many fans think deserves a big moment. And even if Drew is not as over as Cody was, I feel that fans may kind of rally behind him less out of support but more out of not wanting Cody in this spot at this time. And to rally against the creative decisions which are frankly becoming kind of stale.

Not sure that will definitely happen, but I'd give it a 25% chance.

AEW Revolution was last night and it was a fantastic PPV. It was a long one (not a surprise), but damn did it deliver. The sold out crowd in LA was great too, they were into the show the whole night. It really is an amazing PPV streak AEW is on.

It genuinely feels like AEW has earned back a lot of the momentum they had when they started. This last year and a half or so has been something else. I hope they can keep it up.

The payoff to the rollins vision angle is... Rollins vs Gunther at mania? Yeesh.

Not entirely their fault because of all the injuries, but sometimes you just have to cut your losses and fold when you have a shitty hand.

@_@... Did WWE hire back Vince Russo? That Pat Macafee heel turn is something out of 2000 WCW.

…I’m starting to see what the Triple H grifters are talking about.

Seriously, Hunter. What the fuck was that?!?

Edit: So apparently, the decision to shoehorn Pat McAfee in the Randy/Cody feud was a call made by TKO/Ari Emmanuel. Straight from the top…

So instead of doing the logical/common sense thing and lowering the fucking prices like a normal goddamn business group that can read the room… They’re banking on an former NFL punter with a podcast to sell the missing tickets from last year…

And I thought Vince was out of touch.

I believe that story came from Dave Meltzer and as such should be taken with the largest grain of salt possible. Wouldn't surprise me, but I'm not too concerned with how the sausage is made, I just want yummy sausage. Yummy sausage this was not.

Whoever came up with it, it was the worst segment in WWE in quite some time. It just made no sense. Macafee was complaining about 5'5" wrestlers having 45 minute iron man matches being the reason why WWE sucks right now? Huh? Is that a shot at AEW? Because WWE is certainly not putting on 45 minute matches with wrestlers of any size. And honestly, a 45 minute match would probably be a nice little change of pace now and then when the story warrants it.

Then there's the callbacks to the attitude era which... the attitude era is gone, and truthfully I don't want it back. I enjoyed it, but it was a time and place. I'm not mad that the WWE product has changed over the last 30 years because I've changed too and I'm no longer going to be entertained by softcore porn and needless blood.

But beyond the stupidity of his complaints... why does Randy Orton need Pat Macafee? The story so far has been Randy Orton is so much more devious than Cody that Cody can't beat him. So why would he need someone to help him now? And of all the people he could get to help him, why Pat Macafee? Why not literally anyone else on the roster? And why have him kick Cody in the nuts two weeks before Mania? Why not have Macafee return to commentary at Mania, THEN attack Cody when he wouldn't be expecting it at all?

There is no kayfabe way to make any sense of this. It's just that Macafee has a popular podcast. They apparently have learned nothing after trying to do the exact same thing with Travis Scott blew up spectacularly last year.

Then they had Cody Rhodes come out to trash the story they just did in the first segment and continue the metanarrative about how good or how bad WWE booking is. Which was again 2000s WCW again. Hopefully, this was just because they realized just how much they shit the bed and are killing the whole thing before it gets any further. It's hard to believe the initial plan was to have the beat down and then Cody is back later that same night no selling it.

If they're calling an audible, fine. Have Cody brutalize Pat Macafee next week to show he has the killer instinct, and then proceed as if Macafee never was injected into this story.

WWE has been in a slump lately, but this definitely was not the way to get out of it.

For anyone wondering, Mike Johnson of PWInsider was the guy who broke the story that Pat McAfee was pushed by Ari Emanuel into the Cody and Orton feud. Dave just seemed to agree, but he wasn't the guy who broke the story.

Mike Johnson has been accused in the past of being too close to the WWE, including being used to push company narratives. So yeah, take that how you will.

Better source, but I'm not particularly bothered about who's idea it was. Im not gonna like write them a letter or wait outside their house with a sock full of pennies.

Well it's not like I said you should do any of that, just pointing out/correcting a bit of information.

I also don't care much about who came up with the idea as well, but everyone seems to be talking about this since last night. Normally I would probably not have known about this since I don't keep up with WWE that much anymore, but this story got a great deal of attention. Since I do know about it as a result, I'm just going to keep shaking my head and laughing at how stupid an idea it is.
