I don't mind Cena giving up. The way I took it, John Cena would never give up (except to the ankle lock sometimes). But, at that point he was no longer John Cena. That was the end of that character. The person John Cena knew he couldn't be the character John Cena anymore, which has been kind of clear based on the smoke and mirrors that have been used during this last run. It was time to just accept that.

And that could have been the perfect way to end John Cena's career... except that this last run was so scattershot. The whole iffy heel run culminating in a loss to Cody, getting dominated by Brock, getting kicked in the balls by Liv. Cena's had so many high profile losses lately that you just wanted to see him get one last really big moment.

Overall the whole John Cena retirement was kind of mediocre. There were some really fun moments, but some really puzzling choices made. And with this being the retirement of the biggest star in the past couple of decades, I get a lot of people feeling a bit deflated. Royal Rumble's around the corner, so hopefully a good opportunity to get out of the little slump WWE has been on.

We got a new WWE Champion! Drew McIntyre!

I thought there was a chance. Sadly I forgot it was in Europe, and accidentally got spoiled :-/

Definitely the right call. I don't think there was anything interesting to do with Cody as champion going into mania. Seems like the plan is Cody vs Roman, and I think that's a great match to put on the card, but I think a lot of fans would have turned on it as a main event. Cody has had a great run, but needs to retreat from the main title scene for a little bit. He should be at the point now where Angle, Shawn Michaels, and HHH were towards the end of their careers where they didn't need the title for their programs to mean something.

Drew as champion makes the Oil Rumble a lot more interesting. With a face and heel as the reigning champions, it opens things up a bit. Honestly don't know who will win. Feel like Sami Zayn is most likely given the circumstances but Bron Breaker or Fatu are also possible.

WWE using AI makes Dominik an AEW champion. So now we know WWE is into AI slop. This is like a WCW level blunder

Quit letting them off easy. More like a bay of pigs level blunder. Or like invading Russia in winter. I mean, you could distinctly see it for almost a full tenth of a second. I'm sure everybody who was watching AAA in slow motion was absolutely scandalized. I dont see how they can ever recover from an error of this magnitude.

XD. Blocking someone cause you can't rationally defend your nonsense, yet still trying to take swipes at them. That is sad. And makes a far better statement about your intellectually honesty, integrity, and capacity for reasonable conversation than anything I could post.

Since I am likely the only person who regularly posts here that he has blocked, obviously he knows who he is responding to. Regardless of what you (meaning anyone else) thinks about our past interactions and who was right or wrong, I imagine you would agree that if he has decided to no longer interact (as is totally his right as I am never going to question how someone chooses to spend their leisure time), then he should not be also trying to take shots at me. If you agree, then I would appreciate quoting this so the message can be conveyed, then we can both be on our merry way.

The ROil Rumble has been pretty good so far IMO.

The women's Rumble started out slow and was disappointingly lacking in surprises. Kind of amusing that Daniel Bryan was probably the most over person in the match. But once it got down to number 30 and I still had no clue who would win I got interested. It was a bit odd to have about half the field remaining at the end. It resulted in a boring first half but the second half had some pretty good spots and good intrigue. One of the better female rumbles in recent memory.

AJ vs Gunther was a match of the year candidate for me. Genuine stakes and two great performers. I kind of thought they were going to find some wiggle room to let AJ Styles continue, but it was a squeaky clean loss. Gonna be hard to explain if he wants to keep wrestling elsewhere. But at least AJ went out on a great match.

Sami Zayn vs Drew was also a good match with an underdog story. I had moments of doubt but never truly believed in Sami winning. Still a good match, but a bit of an odd choice to have two heartbreaking finishes back to back. I guess this means a big babyface win for the men's rumble?

Yeah, that was not a good Men's rumble.

Nope. It was not.

Roman Reigns main eventing Mania is perhaps the least exciting outcome there could have been. Hard to get excited about the guy who has been dominating so long going to dominate some more.

The bigger problem is that even if it wasn't Roman, there was nobody else I would have really been excited to see win. There are guys I liked in the match but nobody who I really wanted to see win, because nobody has been built to that on the cusp level where people want to see them finally win the big one.

Been giving the new regime the benefit of the doubt, but between the raising prices, kind of shady decisions, and booking. Meh. Just a lot of better things I could do with my free time.
