Stevie Richards and James Romero (on their channel) brought up an interesting thing about the disconnect between entrances and what happens in the ring. As much as people hate Rousseau (especially Cornette) and Rousseau hates wrestling these days, he points out that Rousseau did something that other writers wouldn't do - he'd talk to the wrestlers right before they went out, reminding them what happened last time they were on camera. Why is this important?

For years now now, many wrestlers when their music hits, they head down to the ring and do their regular entrance regardless of the context of their story. Even Cody Rhodes has been super smiley every time he's on his way to the ring, as though the story only counts when he reaches the ring. Richards points out that decades ago, Rousseau would stand in the Gorilla position and give wrestlers a simple run down before they headed out: "Remember, ____ happened last time you were on screen, tonight you wanna kill ____, and he's right there in the ring. Nothing else in your entrance matters, tonight your goal is him, not playing to the fans."

I remember when the shift began to happen to ignoring the story and just doing the intro thing. It was immediately after the Attitude era, Spring 2002, Get the F Out transitional phase, Hulk Hogan is supposed to be making a save, but instead he just prances around in that stupid boa thing he wears like some kind of fucking idiot while playing to the crowd while the person he was supposed to be saving was getting beaten up (I believe The Rock, who is being beaten down by Hall and Nash, or something like that).

I know Cornette and Richards aren't the most popular people within WWE, but the two of them are among the most knowledgeable and intelligent guys who ever worked for the company. These are guys who think a lot about the product, and have a ton of experience within. If WWE wants to strengthen their product, they should hire them as consultants, or at least listen to their shows.

This is something AEW does do. If someone is pissed off they come out the tunnel pissed off. Not trying to be tribal here. Just a difference in approach from two companies.

This is Kenny Omega coming out to confront his former best friends who attacked him while he was afflicted with a potentially life threatening illness. Kind of don't feel like he's showing the appropriate energy here...

Okada then came out to confront long time rival Omega and I don't think I've ever seen a person look less like he wanted to be where he was.

Swerve looked mildly annoyed and made virtually no effort to get to the young bucks.

So... I dunno man. I'm just not seeing the raw anger you're talking about.

Hangman Adam Page consitantly pissed off.

Nah man, I'm serious. I think those strobe effects are actually dangerous.

But yeah. Wrestlemania. Looking forward to a weekend of wrestling. Not the best build, but I legitimately could see most matches go either way which is always exciting. For anyone who wants to see if they can outpredict me, have at it.

John Cena def Cody Rhodes- A year or so is a long enough reign and Cena winning is more interesting

Jey Uso def Gunther- If Jey doesn't win his career as a single is dead.

Bianca Belair pins Iyo Sky- Possibly with help from Naomi.

Rey Mysterio def El Grande Americano- I feel this will be a heel heavy show, so they need to give the face a win. And the Grand Americano thing was cute, but I think it's gonna wear out its welcoms soon.

Dominik Mysterio pins Finn Balor- Just a gut feeling.

Tiffany Stratton def Charlotte Flair

Jacob Fatu def LA Knight- Can't see Fatu losing here.

AJ Styles def Logan Paul

Jade Cargill def Naomi- Naomi makes more sense from a story perspective, but I can't see Jade losing her first singles match at Mania

Damian Priest def Drew McIntyre

Bayley & Lyra Valkyria def Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez

War Raiders def the New Day- Possibly with some Big help.

CM Punk pins Roman Reigns- Seth has kind of talking me into wanting him to win. But still think Punk will.

??? def Randy Orton

Those are my guesses.

I agree, the strobing lights should be stopped and not use ever again for this guy or any other person

I hope Cena wins - it could be a great way to build up Cena VS CM Punk for Summerslam

Jey needs this win, if he doesnt, they wasted everything on him

I want Rhea Ripley to win but wouldnt mind Bianca

Rey Mysterio vs Chad Gable - havent followed this feud as much but dont mind watching it

Dominik needs a win

I hope Tiffany wins especially with what happened tonight

Jacob Fatu, hopefully wins and leads to a rivalry with Solo

I can see sadly Logan Paul winning but hope AJ Styles wins

Oh ya, Jade is gonna win

I want Damian to win but I can see Drew winning

I can see Liv Morgan's team winning

I can see New Day winning too

Rusev might face Randy Orton

So, that was interesting.

It seemed like the crowd was starting to turn on Cody for a minute there. Then, he absolutely blistered Cena and turned it around.

Will be interesting to see how they reacton Sunday. Definitely was a mixed reaction here. I think Cody has to lose. At a certain point people are going to get tired of the same person on top, and I think we're getting to that point.

Seems like the crowd boo'd the faces - Bianca Belair was boo'd.

Yeah, but that's been a pattern with Bianca. She's been acting more heelish, and she's in a match with two much more popular faces. I think Bianca is on the verge of a heel turn. Cody on the other hand is still supposed to be one of the top babyfaces.
