Disaster is very different from not successful.

For example, the Xbox one isn't a disaster. At the same time, it isn't as successful as it could've been

I believe it was a disaster because it singlehandedly and unequivocally destroyed Nintendo's domination and put them into a rut they could not come out of for two more gens. You have the NES and SNES and then... everything else after. In that sense, it was a disaster.

Having said that, I do believe it had some of their most creative games ever and OOT, the greatest 3D game of all time.

Well N64 and Gamecube were definitely meant to compete. Wii and Wii U were meant to be less competitive to current and last gen. They went with the creative route there. They meant to be more unique and not compete in power. Those are my opinions. Yours are welcome too.

I just dont think power has anything to do with it. If it did then there would be no DS vs PSP or 3DS vs Vita. I know Nintendo marketed the Wii as a secondary console, but its still a competitor to the PS3 and 360.

In a way, yes, but I do believe even Nintendo said thst they don't consider themselves as in competition with last gen with Wii.

Nintendo says alot of things. They had a console out at the same time as the PS3 and 360. They were competing with them. Every console maker wants the most amount of people to buy their console. Sony and MS want the casual crowd just as much as Nintendo, hence the Move and Kinect.

That was Sony and MS. They tried to copy Wii's success. Not the other way around. I see your point, I just don't fully agree. $200 or $250, barely more powerful than the Gamecube, Wii sports and fitness. A new type of gaming not aimed at hardcore. PS3 and 360 went for the core gamers. Move and Kinect were afterthoughts.

I feel like you're over exaggerating saying the N64 was a disaster. Saturn was a disaster. The N64 is still considered one of their best consoles, especially for the innovations it introduced (analog stick, 4 player multiplayer, rumble) and having various games that are consistently considered the greatest ever made. People look back very fondly towards it, and it still sold a decent amount. Far from a real disaster.

N64 is one of their best consoles?  Name 5 RPGs on the system off the top.  Name 5 fighters on the system off the top.  The N64s library was very limited in terms of genres and Nintendo NEVER got that 3rd party support back, so in the long run it killed Nintendo as a competitive home console dev (except when they caught lightning in a bottle with the Wii).  I'd say the Saturn Library is overall more diverse honestly.

Just my opinion though sir, don't mean to be disrespectful.
