PSVR pre-orders from Amazon could take two months to fulfill

Did you pre-order a PSVR from Amazon? Then don't expect to necessarily get your PlayStation VR headset on launch day, as it may take up to two months to receive it.

Amazon U.K. has revealed that PlayStation VR pre-orders may not be fulfilled until December 12, some two months after the virtual reality gaming headset is released.

PSVR pre-order customers could be waiting months for their orders

While it was initially believed the retail giant would issue PSVR devices on a first-come, first-served basis, it now appears that the company will not have sufficient stock to meet customer pre-orders at launch.

"Due to limited stock we are only able to offer one unit per customer per address. You will be notified via email of the expected delivery date closer to the time. We will be fulfilling customer orders in the order in which they were placed andexpect to fulfil all customer pre-orders by December 12th, 2016. This product comes with a UK plug and therefore may not be suitable for use outside of the UK," said Amazon.

On the flip side, GAME is confident it will be able to supply pre-orders to customers at launch, provided you got your name down early enough.

Sony confirmed a PSVR release date of October 13, 2016 during its E3 2016 press conference, with the device set to retail for £349. The format holder has said that it hopes to have around 50 games out by the end of the year, withover 200 developers working on titles for the gaming headset.

PSVR is at a competitive price point in comparison to its lead rivals, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which are priced at $599 and $799, respectively. The device will also be sold at a profit from launch.

That's normal for VR buyers, it was the same with the vive and Rift.

Mine is still slated to arrive 13th.... can't remember when my sons one is arriving as that one was early nov I think.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

It's underpowered hardware but I'm very excited to see what it's capable of coupled with the PS4 Pro. Mainly, I suspect Sony will have a great lineup of games...

To me Sony might achieve with this VR what Nintendo always does with their underpowered hardware, making the most of something that might otherwise yield average results.

Not surprised about those delays as Oculus and Hive had similar issues... everyone is timid about over-manufacturing in a new market. I hope this works out, though, as it's the major deciding factor between whether I stay PS4 or swap over to Scorpio for me.

I really think that while the most technically impressive experiences will be on the Vive I just ordered, it's the PSVR that could really show how best to utilize the new tech. Probably will see the first legitimate large scale multiplayer games there.

Mine still says 10/13 though I'm in the US. It's interesting that they aren't going to have enough stock. I wonder if Sony underestimated what demand was going to be like.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

i am planning on picking up a PS4 Pro. So if I were to pick up a PSVR, it would work best with the Pro. But before I throw down $400 on something unproven, I'll have to wait first. $400 for a Pro and another $400 for VR is a bit too much so far at one time.
