Well done!

Assumeing digital copies (~18% or so?) its probably around 400k. What Im curious about is how it sells world wide. I hope persona ends up as popular as Final Fantasy some day. |
I don't think this can happen to ANY JRPG series, at all. The only reason FF is a big thing worldwide at all, is Sony pushing it heavily during gen5. But the time of JRPG popularity on such a scale has passed - the gaming landscape is just too different.
This may be the best selling Persona game ever, but yeah, I don't expect the series to ever come close to FF.

Yeah, for better or worse, much of that popularity has shifted to Western Rpgs, especially the Bethesda games. I'm still a bit shocked by how much Skyrim sold, and then Fallout 4 did absolutely gangbusters. I'm hoping that FFXV can recover a little momentum for the series, but honestly I'm expecting it to open lower than even XIII did in 2010.
I do think Persona will do surprisingly decent numbers in NA in February, it may even chart in the NPD, but it will still be much lower than FF. As you said, much of FF's popularity came from Sony pushing FFVII so hard for the PS1, I don't think any JRPG is going to be able to find the same sort of boost in this market.
