How is it a VCR though? |
Some people call it that because of its size and form factor.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You're right, fixed
| Bandorr said: I don't understand. The TV clearly does upscaling. So you could just as easily hook up the ps4 to the TV and get the same "look". So wouldn't a better comparison of been the XBox one S upscaling vs the TV's upscaling? That is assuming the pass-through upscales the ps4 in the first place? |

I did, it made little sense to me. Then again most of this makes no sense to me. The TV has upscale, but also the xbox one S has upscaling. And I just found an article saying that the Xbone S pass-through does not support 4k. So I don't have any clue if that maters or not. |
To me, it seems like this guy's TV does upscale, but it is very lousy. So when he passed his PS4 through his Xbone S, he got a better image that way. This tells us that the Xbone does upscale the image before it reaches the TV.
So you need a Xbox one S to play ps4 games with good graphics?

Here is another video he made that shows a PS4 hooked up to his TV. The way he understands upscaling is kind of off. What he really should be saying is that the signal from the console is 1080p or 2160p. You can see the difference.
Right. When Sony enables HDR, a PS4 upscaled this way will look even better.
Chances are Sony won't realese HDR updates on a game like this before Pro launches though. Just a hunch.

The real test will be when you have a PS4 game upscaled with HDR side by side with a Pro version .....then take 8-10ft walk to your couch .
What will the difference be in practice for typical couch console gaming?
I'm sure there will be differences appreciated on a computer monitor from a few feet, but will the added benefit get lost in practice?
I think instead they should focus on mandating a 60FPS mode for all games, at what ever resolution for this reason. That will always bring a more tangible benefit.
