Forums - Gaming Discussion - Next Gen: Native 4k vs Better Assets ?

Which should take priority next gen?

Native 4k 4 21.05%

Better quality assets/vfx 15 78.95%

Total:19

Going forward it would take around 8Teraflops to natively render PS4 level graphics at 4k. Assuming the eventual PS5 is between 12-16Tflops in performance, are you comfortable for 50%-70% of the systems power going towards rendering current gen visuals at native 4k resolution? Or would you prefer most of that to go towards better graphical assets, density, lighting, VFX etc?

Think of all the delays that we have today, and all of the commercial failures. Now imagine what will happen if developers have to go native 4K.

I think the devs should have the option of going 1080p, upscaled 4k and native 4k. Don't force it on the dev.

When the PS5 pro comes out 3 years after it will be even better so you can have the top devs doing native 4k and much better textures.

Im plenty fine with 1080 x 2 (doubled up), checkerboard style, for 4k, as the PS4 Pro does.
Jaggies are gone. Image's look really sharp.

Just add "Better quality assets/vfx" Imo.

At this point though.... how much more do we really need?

(minor compression artifacts, but still... this is breath takeing)

Agreed.
