Forums - Gaming - Are racing games now in the same category as Fifa or Madden? Or still central to gaming?

The new Need for speed was trashed by everyone so I didn't try it. I will have to try Trackmania one day.

I wouldn't say so, devs tend to be a lot more outside the box and creative when it comes to racing games, while Maddan and FIFA games are typically the same or very similar thing year after year. With that in mind i'd say that it's still a central genre. The fact that there isn't a new, say, Forza every year shows that they perhaps put more effort into them too.

However, if there are different devs working on it, then it doesn't change my original statement that more time and possibly therefore effort is put into each entry.
