Forums - Nintendo - A (delusional) arguement for Nintendo becoming third party developer.

This is just a completely off the wall idea that has very little thought put into it.

Anyway heres the crazy idea Nintendo goes thrid party develops games for Playsation, Xbox, PC and tablets/phones for ~5 years then stops and releases their own hardware, which all Nintendo games become exclusive to again. So it would be 5 years of advertising essentially or a way to poach gamers from other platforms.

Edit: The better option would be to release demo's on the PC to advertise their games.

Everyone is always saying Nintendo should go third party, I say they should not but they should take the middle road, keep releasing good handhelds, which are still very populair (DS, 3DS all success) and make a ton of games for that and start releasing some games on Xbox, PC and PS4 and step out of the TV-based home console market.

That way they have two business strategies running and they could always decide to switch back or go full third party depending on what works out better.

That's not a very good idea. Nintendo should never go third party.

It would also be 5 years of paying all their hardware related employees to sit around on their assess doing nothing. Plus they'd still have the building maintenance costs of that side of the business as well.

The best argument for Nintendo going 3rd party (other than potential increased sales) is that they wouldn't be burdened with the costs and risks of actually producing the console. Doing it your way they'd still have a lot of those costs, but they wouldn't even be selling a console to earn back those expenses.

Yeah your right but those 5 years is just a plucked out of thin air number. also the time could be used to develop new hardware so the hardware division wouldn't be siting on there arses.

I'm no fan Nintendo going 3rd party but this was just an idea that popped into my head while reading other peoples comments on the subject.

Anyway your idea sounds far more sane than mine. :)

Yeah I hope they never get into the situation where that could be a probabilty.

If they will ever have to go third party for whatever reason, I hope they'll go PC only, just to piss off the people who always wish Nintendo games will appear on their console of choice some day. (This is not aimed at the TC).

What? Really? No!

There is only one reason for Nintendo to go 3rd party, consumer friendliness.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Imo, Nintendo should leave the business and take their games to the grave before ever going third party. Sometimes, it's better to die with dignity than go on living as a whore.

And why must one of the very best developers in the world go to the grave? That's sounds like ignorance about the company.
