Didn't see the edit in time.

The thing is... The wii/ds were new markets which people could easily distinguish. Where as with the NX, as far as the rumors and concept arts and etc go, they are entering a market which people cannot easily distinguish. Its a tablet that can play games and can connect to the TV... K? How is that any different from all the other tablets apart from the gimmick of being able to take off the controllers. (Which really is like taking off a case in some ways)

Yes yes it has Nintendo games but we saw how far Nintendo games alone can go with the 3ds. So... Whats the advantage of being a tablet and entering a declining market?

Actually people couldn't easily distinguish the Wii/DS markets before either device launched, before then people were unsure of them and predicted both devices to flop.

People can't distinguish new markets before they take off because their mindset is rooted in current markets.

Yea but when you saw the wii/DS. The reason people were so unsure of them were because those were devices that no one has ever seen before. That is how people could distinguish them from everything else. From the concept arts and etc, the NX looks like every other tablet just with controllers on the side which has been done a few times.

I am trying to figure out apart from "Nintendo games," what functionality will be so unique to the NX that other tablets aren't capable of doing? We have tablet accessories which add controllers to them and we have tablets that can connect to the TV. Where as with the wii/DS, those technologies were so new that virtually no one did those before.

Actually not true mate as the were devices that utilized their concepts before people were unsure of them because they felt they had no place in the market and that's what it comes down to, no one understood the new market because it hadn't taken off yet.

People only understood the goal once their devices were out and the marketing was communicating to consumers, that's how people distinguish them.

But the issue still is, there was nothing like the wii or the DS in gaming. I am not sure which mass market device are you referring to that did what the wii/DS did before either of them. There are concepts sure but there are concepts about everything and those that are successful take those concepts and execute it perfectly.

But there are tablets that can play games so thats not exactly a concept anymore... So what "new" market is Nintendo trying to take off in that other tablets can't do?

Wrong again as the were motion control devices and touch screen devices in gaming Nintendo just did what they usually do and put their own approach to the concept, the Wii wasn't even Nintendo's first or second venture into mc for a start. Even things like augmented reality were done by devices like Gizmondo over a decade ago.

MC and touch screen took off not because it was new as it wasn't it took off because of the approach to them that Nintendo utilized that created a market for them. If it was a case of the tech not being seen before the would have been many devices before that would have created the market, it's the appraoch and handling that created the market not it being new.

Yep i agree with you, we see this from Apple as well. iPod, iPhone & iPad werent the first MP3 Player, Smartphone or Tablet on the market but they were all the first truly successful ones due to the approach they went with them which included a combination of marketing, brand appeal & being more streamlined/accessible than the competitors.

A little off topic. Games likes battlefield won't be coming to NX. So actually NX version plays battlefield at 0 fps where it's playable in Xbox One. As for raw power; it's not bad for a handheld. But in today's market challenge will be to convince customers.

Ya and Xbox One wont play games like Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Mario Kart, etc. so those all run at 0 fps on XBO.....im not really sure what point you are trying to make?

Which motion control device that was like the wii which released before it? I am just curious.

Same with the DS... Dual screens with one being touch for a gaming device? From a serious player?

Cause I can't remember devices that got marketed to consumers that were like that before the wii/DS. Yea there were technologies before but used like the wii/DS?

And its not like Nintendo's own take on things have always been successful for them. Look at the wiiU and Gamecube. I don't see why Nintendo's own take into tablets + competitive market will suddenly make them better based on the rumors. Specially if it does what other tablets already can do... Apart from play Nintendo games.

Edited to make wording better

6.2 inches at 720p equals 236DPI, so slightly better than Vita's 220DPI
So if you have a Vita then it should look similar

You're missing his point, he is saying that motion & touch controls existed before Wii/DS but noone used them in the same way as Nintendo did.

So the questions you are asking make no sense in relation to what he said.

Because I never said they didn't exist prior to the wii/DS because the technologies obviously did. My argument is that there is nothing that used it the same way that the wii/DS did. Yet based on the rumors, tablets that are out right now are able to do what the NX is able to do apart from play Nintendo games so what makes NX as unique as the wii/DS?
