Forums - Gaming - Sony Needs to Lower the Price of the PS4.

I've noticed current PS4 bundles with one game are around $350 USD.  The Xbox One S with Halo is $300 USD.  And let's not for get that the Xbox One just outsold the PS4 in North America in the month of July.  If Sony wants to keep thanking their supporters for making the PS4 the best selling console, the PS4 need to drop in price very soon.

By 10,000 units, because they had fire sales down to 220$ for a Xbox One (to get rid of stock before the slim).

Honestly if Xbox One @220$ didnt outsell a 350$ PS4...... things would be really bad.

Still I think August is going to be won by Xbox One, because they launched their Slim.

I think Sony takes September.

You gotta figure at this point they're going to wait and see how well X1 sits where it is now and what NX's price point will be.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I just hope Sony dont get greedy.... do the 249$ price point.
and win the next 12 months or so of NPDs instead.

Down the line the long term profits from a 249$ model, could be higher than selling at 299$, if they increase sales of units because of it, and get more people to buy games & services.

Its also the best thing for the consumer, the lower it goes, the more people will be able to enjoy gameing.

Sony eventually will lower it's price, its inevitable.

...But not because you think XB1 will start selling better than PS4. I mean MS can't keep having insane crazy deals and releasing new models every month.

Well they technically coulddd lol

They'll probably drop the price when the slim comes out. To be fair they only lost last month by something like 7k units, so considering the price difference, I think they'll be very happy with that.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Sony are too experienced to get drawn into a price war.

The PS5 Exists.

Yeah that's not how that works.

The xbox one was discounted almost $100 plus it had several games with it. Even then it only outsold the ps4 by 10k. That is like having a 20 year-old starting half-way up the race track barely outrunning a 60 year old man.

I am quite surprised the ps4 hasn't had another discount. I mean one discount in 3 years is pretty strange. They don't need to do anything though.

edit: HUGE sales one month, and console releases another. Then the sales stop. Then the consoles return to normal. Then Sony takes over again.

At most I'd give Xbox July, August, September, and October.

I see what you're saying, and honestly, I haven't been keeping up with the the different sales during those times.  I do think that the current console gen is reaching critical mass when price plays a bigger factor over content for the "casual" shopper.  So I can see how with current hardware offerings that the Xbox One can be seen as more appealing.

If that was true the Xbox One should have won that month by much more than 10k.

Games still matter, as do preceptions of value, and the hype for the future of the systems.

Xbox isnt getting any of these: (and that matters to some Id say)
