Harvey Norman is offering the Xbox 360 Elite (available for pick-up on purchase) with GTAIV (available for pick up on the 29th of April) for $698, which I believe is $1 less than the recommended retail price of the only PS3 model available in Australia, the 40gb.
Furthermore, for those that want to take advantage of the 360's diverse game library, Gametraders is offering the Xbox 360 Pro bundled with Lost Odyssey, PGR4, Viva Pinata and Forza Motorsport 2 for $629.95.
Alternatively, Big W now has the Pro console for $498 without bundled games. Thats just $110 more expensive than the Wii, whilst the Core can be found for less than a Wii.....
