Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon U.S. September bestsellers and general Amazon-based discussion

I've seen people on GAF talking about how the OG PS4 is struggling as proven by the stupid deals we're seeing, then I've seen people saying PS4pro pre-orders aren't exactly setting the world on fire, and finally, I'm seeing people talking about how the PS4slim has failed to take off.

I look at the above and see something glaringly obvious that for some odd reason is being completely overlooked.

PS4slim + PS4pro + OG PS4 = PS4

Don't be shocked if people are shocked when sales of PS4 come in.

COD IW could have sales as low as AW and Ghosts.

Was Halo 5 higher in the Pre-orders rank last year ?

Gears 4:

August 2016 - out of top 100

September 2016 - #59(so far)

Halo 5:

August 2015 - #29

September 2015 - #24

October 2015 - #3

So likely it won't be any where close to Halo 5 sales.

Halo 5 did very well in the months before the release. Microsoft failed to promote Gears of War 4 on the E3. They spent the time with the minecraft + beyond generations + Scorpio's thing.

All of the 3 points (stupid OG PS4 deals, restricted PS4 Pro sales and restricted PS4 Slim sales) are results of the trasition where Sony squeeze the last profits out of the current SKUs before they release their mainstream magnets (PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim COD + WD bundles) that will give them a monster holiday.

I dont know why people continuously base their predictions on forum talk. They should try to go out and meet mainstream consumers.

I guess, only time will tell

It's just insane how people base trends on just one or two instances instead of waiting for a good while. Once the OG PS4 is out of the way and the Slim/Pro combo is on the market and getting promoted heavily, THEN we can sit down and talk about 'trends'.

So true man.

Sometimes I wonder if people really have such poor memory or if they're driven by wishful thinking (some Xbox and Nintendo fans) and are easily panicked (some PS fans).

If something happens once then it's not noteworthy, if it happens twice then it gets my interest, if it happens three times then I'd consider it a possible trend, and only when it happens four, five or six times would I call it a trend and begin to rely on it. Amazon has proven itself to be 100% correct (give or take some obvious circumstances) and yet we still get people coming in here and using 'wishful' thinking as their bases for a prediction.

This is what has always baffled me about a large number of internet users in general. So many are woefully misinformed or insanely reactionary, as if they can't understand that one incident does not a pattern make. A lot of them are like that dog from UP, who chase after every single squirrel that falls into their sight. It isn't just in videogames, but in politics as well. Every slight event becomes a pivot point, even though things tend to settle back into a groove if they would just learn to wait for a bit and let the information come in.
