Forums - Sony - PS4 Slim: Price Discussion and Sales Talk

What will the price be?

$299 100 40.82%

$250 103 42.04%

$199 24 9.80%

$150 3 1.22%

$350 5 2.04%

Price increase, $399, the... 10 4.08%

Total:245

I think the official price will be down to 299, with the Blkack Friday deal going as low as 249 or having a great bundle at 299.And you might ask, why not put the price lower(if they can)?Simply put, because they dont need to.They already sell PS4s like water, and while making it chepaer might drive a bit more slaes, it wont compensate for the total profit they will gain, so I think that will be the sweat spot, price-wise, for the slim for at least 1 year.Either way, it will simply replace the normal PS4 and get all its sales. So in the sales department, it will do just as well as the current PS4 is doing.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

So, what does everyone think: will Sony actually be stupid enough to not include a game?

Until one of their major 3rd party games they have the marketing rights to launches, sure.

Could just throw in Black Ops 3 like they're still doing.

Either $249 without a game or $299 with a game.

Isn't it a bit late to launch a new BO3 bundle? I'm just hoping Sony will open their eyes and make a "family-friendly" bundle this year, maybe Ratchet & Clank or a Lego game (though I would prefer it being R&C, the franchise deserves the exposure it would get from a high profile bundle this holiday. Probably won't happen though. Sony doesn't have enough faith in their first party games.)

Yeah, I agree that Sony really should do a new bundle. But then again Microsoft also did a Halo 5 bundle for the XB1 S, so you never know.

We didn't even know PS4 slim features compare to Xbox One S's, which's stuff like UHD, HDR etc etc.

I suggest $199 if without new features.

I'll put it another way. If Sony drop to $100, from here on out they will always be $50 less than they could of been. $250 this year, $200 next year etc. Instead of $300 this year and $250 next year etc.

Multiply that $50 loss by 60M. (If PS4 sells 100M lifetime so since it has already sold 40M that will mean an estimated 60M to be sold). $50 x 60,000,000 = $3,000,000,000

So will extra hardware, software sold and PS+ subs make up for the 3 billion loss?

its not a loss. Its just not as much of a gain as it could have been.

If PS4s releases at $250.... and next year drops to $200....etc. It's not a loss when you consider that even at $250 they are still making money on the box.

A better way to look at it is like this.

If they sell at $250 instead of $300. Then for every console sold they are making $50 less than what they could have made. But what's important is how much more money are they making on average fir every console out there? If the numbers show that they make more than $50/yr in profits for every console out there, then it's better for them to get as many consoles out there as possible than think about hoe much more they could be making on the box.

Exactly.  This would mean it would only take like 2-3 games sold for Sony to make up that $50, which almost every new purchaser will buy anyway.  But then you also have the increased chances of getting more Plus, Now, and Vue subscribers with every new PS4 purchased.  Again, I fully expect it to launch at $299, but it's not far fetched to see them launch it at $249, either.

$299. If $299 then no lower than $249 during the holidays. I can't see it lower than $249. Also, the PS3 is still above $200. lol

Everything points to no UHD, HDR etc.

Also, lol at that price.
