Forums - Microsoft - Is This Misleading Marketing? (MS: GoW)

If you go to this Youtube link you'll see the following discription:

In this short gameplay demo through the ""Rescue"" chapter of Gears of War 4, our heroes JD, Kait and Del are chasing an unknown enemy through an old fort. Along the way, they encounter two fierce Swarm enemies - Drones and Pouncers - for the first time.

To see it's actually running on a PC you have to hit 'see more'. How many people do that, let alone read the description below the video? It's a video on an XBox youtube channel and the video ends with 'XB1s, starting at $299'. I'd say that's about as misleading as you can get. Perhaps they're hoping the ill informed believe the 'S' stands for Scorpio?

edit: and some people in the comments already think it's either the Scorpio or the XB1s.

Its on th Xbox channel because xbox live is a service across XB1 and W10 and this is an Xbox game. They did say it was played on aPC in the description and the XB1S can only upscale to 4k so people should know that its played on a PC. The part about the XB1S is a bit misleading.

So, you want them to have, "Running on PC" right at the top or even in the video title? To find out it's running on PC only 1 click away... on the same page the video is on.

Perhaps S stands for straws.

Perhaps S stands for straws.

It ends with an advert for the XB1s. I wouldn't call that straws. It's misleading, as some of the comments are now showing.

Remember the PewdiePie paid review controversy recently? People blatantly stating he didn't inform anyone he was being sponsored by Warner Bros for the Shadow of Mordor gameplay videos?

They were proven wrong and made to look fools by 1 simple click. The Xbox S ad is a bit misleading but... The information is there to read mere millimeters from the commenters face if they choose to look.

I think he means that your "grasping at straws" ...

Nothing about that video was misleading since they didn't disclose that it was running on the X1S, what was at the end was just an advert ...

They didn't even imply that the game was running at 4K on the X1S in the video title ...

How people even got the misconception that the game was running at 4K on X1S was their own fault when the description had all of the answers while the video gave you none of that ...

Not many people read what's written below the video and hardly anyone clicks 'see more'. What people do is just watch the video. It's on an XBox Youtube channel and ends with an advert for the XB1s. I wouldn't call it lying but it's certainly deceptive.

If you dont bother researching before buying something - then you yourself is only at fault.

Same situation with the Wii/WiiU and Nintendo DS/Nintendo 3DS comparison.

MS isnt the only one who does this - for an example SE showcases FFXV footage which is from a PC build rather than a PS4/XBO most of the time.

Yes, but it's not about whether people should do research or whether other companies do it, it's about this particular Youtube video on an XBox site. Mentioning that other companies do it doesn't change the fact this is misleading.

Seems like it, stopping short of declaring the X1S capable of 4K gaming.

The description for the video is 'Gears of War 4 - 4K gameplay debut (Gamescom 2016)', it's on an XBox Youtube channel, the mention of it running on a PC is hidden behind the 'show more' and the video ends with 'XB1s, starting at $299'. I think that is without question deceptive.
