Forums - Gaming - My NX (portable) concept renders

Had some free time (a little to much) so i made these

edit: added one more image just so people get the idea of the removable controller rumor (which I'm not much a fan of)

Taking aside those shoulder buttons which look a bit weird and not confortable at all, it looks good for a concept image.Great work!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yeah they are something i thought would be cool to have, as they would move allowing analog functionality as well as being used as triggers, giving more functions to the sholder buttons. but yeah does not look very comfortable.

And thanks for the complement.

Not bad.

I'm thinking from a functional POV that the "chipset internals" of the NX might be like an old school game cartridge that "ejects" from the LCD/controller part of the NX at home.

Eject the "NX chip" from the NX at home, insert that into the NX Home Dock.

Because forcing the entire system to be docked at home means the LCD screen is unusable for home play, which I don't think makes sense.

Arnt the shoulder buttons supposed to be "clickable" mousewheels ?

Also why is the tablet so thin, but the grips much thicker? Id assume this would be a "meaty" tablet, not some super slim one.

Its gonna have a powerfull mobile chip, and need a huge battery.

Its not gonna be some super slim apple like tablet.

Reminds me a lot of the lower portion of the 3DS, with a added circle pad. Interesting shoulder buttons though.

Yeah I imagine it'll be as thick as a 3DS when it's closed which'll work fine since it wont have a clamshell design. This also gives room for the R/L and ZR/ZL buttons to be on top of each other instead of side by side like on the New 3DS.

Yeah that might be the case but the rumors say the controller portion would be removable (whatever that means), and from a design standpoint it is a bit of a nightmare but if Nintendo get right it could very well click with alot of people.

Yeah I tried the mousewheel idea but i couldn't get it to work, might give it another go later on a bigger controller it would work fine.

The grips are removable as per the rumors so if they were as thin as the screen section they would very uncomfortable to use.

How much power the NX is going to use is unknown as far as i know, and clock speeds and screen resolution can be played around with to get most out of what ever chip Nintendo use.

The interesting thing about an "ejectable cartridge chipset" is you could in theory upgrade the system through new "cartridges" in the future too. Would be a definitely interesting hardware concept.
