So the scans are out.

NO PLATFORM GIVEN, new screenshots but they're all CG, and GOTANDA ISN'T DIRECTING THIS STAR OCEAN! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!!!! This is worse than when Sakaguchi stopped being involved with FF.

 No link to scans? :'(

Piss poor quality, it's cam shots and not actual scans so you can barely see anything. Looks like battle shots on the 3rd page but the shots themselves are zoomed in so I can't say much other than it looks like traditional orgasmic real tiem Star Ocean combat. There's only 3 pages there but supposedly there were 8 in Famitsu.

Is it confirmed that there is no mention of a platform in the article? Or is it just confirmed that there is no platform mentioned in the scans we have so far?

Tbh, I don't know why tri-Ace (or SE) is doing this. They do this big write up ona major franchise like SO, getting the fans in Japan all riled up, yet the won't even announce what console they'll need to play the darn game? It makes me wonder if they're doing this because it's going to the platform that 90% of them don't own.and they don't want to let them know just yet. :|

No platform given in Famitsu at all. Sorry.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's multiplat which is why its platforms are a secret. On the other hand...SE did the exact same thing with Seiken Densetsu 4, they had pictures of it all over Famitsu but the platform was "unconfirmed." Everyone knew it was going to be on the PS2, Famitsu even broke the news early. But SE made them retract it, only to reveal that it was for PS2 after all about 2 weeks later. Basically, whenevrr SE is secretive about the platform, stupid things happen.

Plus, as far as I recall SE stated that their prime focuses will be Wii, DS & PS3. They dont believe in the 360 (at least in Japan for a good reason).

Im pretty sure that after SE failed atempts to get attention on the 360 platform they wont really be that interested in it.

Its a damn year since the Announcement of SO4 and the speculative rumors about it being PS3 only. Square is fucking killing me.

Whats taking so long!?

Square Enix Still Quiet on Star Ocean 4 Platform
New details continue to emerge without a hint on who will be able to play.
by John Tanaka
April 2, 2008 - The mystery surrounding Star Ocean 4's platform looks like it's going to continue for the time being. The latest issue of Famitsu has a new look at the next entry in tri-Ace's space opera RPG series, but the magazine once again lists the platform as TBA.

This comes despite a bunch of new details being disclosed in the magazine, including the first two cast members. Star Ocean 4 features a hero named Edge Maverick and a heroine named Reimi Saionji. From what we gather, these two have been friends since childhood.

We don't have too many story details at the point, but fans of the series should take note of one important fact. Star Ocean 4 is actually a prequel. It takes place before Star Ocean 1 as warp drives first come into being and humans take their first steps into space. Speaking with the magazine, the game's developers actually admitted wanting to originally call the game "Star Ocean 0."

Fans can expect to note a few connections with part 1 in the series. The developers suggested that players play through that game. If you find a certain person who makes you think he'll make an appearance in Star Ocean 4, he probably will.

The magazine also gave a few hints at some of the gameplay aspects of the title. Expectedly, you will have a party. The number of characters you can make into allies is at the level as in Star Ocean 3. The game's battle system will be similar to past titles, offering players real time control over one character while the computer AI operates other party members.

Outside of this, it seems that there may be some sort of network functionality included. Nothing is set, but the developers are currently considering a few things.

It doesn't have a platform at the moment, so it obviously doesn't have a date either. However, with this new update in Famitsu, and the impending Japanese release of Star Ocean 2 for the PSP this week, there's a strong possibility that Square Enix will be opening up the flood gates shortly. We will hopefully know soon what platform Star Ocean fans will have to buy to get the next entry in the series.

Now that I know that they actually considered calling it Star Ocean 0 I'm kinda wishing that they did. Also my theory about SO1/4 crossover was true, SO1's past portion is only about 36 years after SO4.

And Dawn of Mana was a horrible game despite good graphics.  That game was no fun at all.  Atleast that is what I heard.  I have never played that game.

Why because it looks almost as good as advent children it has to be CGI? Remember FF VII on the ps3, it looked as good as CGI advent children.

Its not impossible that those are in game screens.
