For me personally I use nicotine and caffeine. I've given almost everything a try at least once but it either didn't interest me much (THC) or it held much too much interest (everything else).
You know, drugs are bad and all that but people still do them. When I was growing up in the 70's it was very "fashionable" to do drugs. That's when it was still "recreational".
Growing up then, in North America, a lot of people that I met 20-30 years ago are now:
1. Dead from OD'ing
2. Dead from drunk driving
3. Dead from drug deals gone bad
4. Dead from AIDS (IV drug users & unsafe sex)
5. Are street people & practicing addicts
6. In prison for drug related offenses
7. Have battled addiction and are now living "clean".
I used to hang out with a lot of musicians.
Then again, I do know people that use drugs (legal/illegal, street/pharmaceutical) as part of their lifestyle and are more or less functioning just fine.
People that are heavy drinkers and/or smoke marijuana habitually seem to be the people that are most likely to survive (just that I've known) into their 40's and even well into their 70's.
Personally I'm much more likely to be for the decriminalization of drug related offenses and for rehabilitation as opposed to incarceration. So, that's a lot different things to discuss.
