Not good for those of us who fear them going overboard with watered down ios games.

It could go one of several ways, maybe iOS/Android game profits are so good that Nintendo's hardware division has less pressure and as such they can kinda do with NX as they please ...

Orrrrrr ....

The stockholders start to pressure the board of directors to move away from dedicated hardware if they're making huge bank off iOS/Android platforms.

If Animal Crossing iOS/Android is a huge hit too, it's really going to heighten the issue very quickly.

Yeah and it's not all bad either.  In a few years mobile phones will be able to play 3DS level handheld games easily if not already.

This is fantastic news.

Once again Nintendo shows that nobody will ever be able to beat their IPs.

Also lol @ anybody thinking this somehow shows that Nintendo should just go third party. If anything it shows why they should KEEP making consoles. After so many people play this they'll want to play the next one, which can only be gotten on a Nintendo system, which means they'll have to buy it.

Sweet! Good news for Nintendo! Hopefully this is a good turning point for them.

Iwata even alluded to trying to leverage mobile to convince people to buy Nintendo hardware.  If everything works out, the NX could be a nice success.

The funny thing about the "Nintendo is doomed" phrase, is that it's been like 10 years that nobody says it except Nintendo fanboys...

Just stop saying it, you're ridiculous. You're not mocking anybody, you just look scared and trying to reassuring yourselves.

In recent years the main concern about Nintendo has been about their console business, will they keep making consoles, especially home consoles. And this is actually a real and important question.

And the huge success of Pokemon GO, which is probably their biggest success since the Wii/DS, isn't reassuring for the console market.

It will all depend on the success of their next generation of consoles

Are you fucking kidding me? Just 2/3 years ago everybody was talking about how doomed Nintendo was, there's tons of threads about it too, trying to change reality now?

And she is not the one that is looking ridiculous and scared with her comentary.

Ever since 2013, fanboys from every platform in virtually every video game community have been circling around Nintendo like starving vultures over a wounded animal in the middle of a desert.
