Forums - Nintendo - Pikmin 4: Miyamoto gives an update

Like I wrote, game could be priorite year or two ago, but for instance was pushed aside in favour of more important games that Nintendo preparing, so they looking to put it again priorite. So game isnt on curent list of priorites, but that doent mean that game wanst on that list year or two ago. That isnt relly hard to imagine and its most likly scenario.

"It's actually very close to completion," Miyamoto said. "Pikmin teams are always working on the next one."

Nintendo then confirmed the news to Eurogamer in a separate statement:

"We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present."

So not only Miyamoto last year said that game is close to completion, Nintendo later confirmed that Pikmin 4 is in development, so game was close to completion and that imply that game was far in development last year and they were focused on that game, but later most likely whole project is moved to NX and that require additional development time, in meantime they were higher priority games.

The latest statement is the most relevant one. Cling to the old ones if you want, but to avoid further disappointment I'm not gonna expect Pikmin 4 as a launch title or even a 1st year game anymore.

Latest statement only saying that game currently isn't priorite and that will be priorite soon, doesnt say anuthing about previous devolpment time of game year or two ago when definatly was in devolpment also, or about previous statments about game.

I am not expecting it neither for launch, but definitely expecting in 1st year.

How long was it between the Pikmin 2 release and Pikmin 3.... it could just as easily be that long between 3 and 4- not saying it will be that long but it could be- again who knows w Nintendo their words are usually so vague they have no meaning

Pikmin 2 was released 3 years after Pikmin 1 and they reused Pikmin 1 engine and assets, most likely they had same plan for Pikmin 4, reusing Pikmin 3 engine and assets and release game for Wii U in 2016, and that perfectly fits with Miymoto statment from last year that Pikmin 4 "is close to completion". But in meantime Wii U died and they move focus to NX, os most likely they move whole project to NX and that means more development time compared to "close to completion" statment.

Wii U title moved to NX.
Gamemaster87 must be mad right now.
