Forums - General - Why Don't You Participate In Mega Threads?

The anime topic is a curious example. The Anime Thread really doesn't move that fast. It's not a thread where you're going to get swamped with posts from one day to the next. That reason, which does seem viable with some threads, doesn't seem to apply very well to the Anime Thread.

However, if someone were to make a new thread entitled something like "What anime are you watching now?" it would probably generate dozens of replies.

I'm guessing that people just get intimidated or they have trouble posting without a definitive topic to steer them.

Besides NintenDom, the main reason why I don't really follow Mega threads is because the discussion is usually on-going, so I never really feel like there is a way for me to just fit in and start discussing things myself without coming out of nowhere, I guess.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I participate in whatever threads pop up in the Hot Threads or my Buddy on the front page, that's it. I rarely ever visit the actual forums.

Because there's so many posts someone has likely said what I was going to already, hell I didn't even bother to read all the posts in this thread.

I think lots of people here already said what I was going to say. But one of the reason why I do like the Nintendomination and the Anime and Manga threads is how they are barely any trolls or haters posting on or users causing intended "insulting" arguments.

And it lets you get to know the users more.

Most comments are off topic, it's different for example of the comg thread that has a daily update. It can be a pain reading 100 comments to know what are people talking about, too random for most people

Damn it Bralod, you really are fast keeping your buddy green

Sometimes I don't check the forums for like 4 or 5 days and then in those mega threads there are like hundreds of new replies! Now way I can read through all that. Also, if I post something in there, I always have the feeling no one notices it anyway. The threads are just too big, that's what it all comes down to. I'm too old for that, I can't think fast enough to be part of it. ... ... or something.... =P

It switches subjects so much that I get lost
Sometimes I want to get into what was being talked about a few posts back and people are already talking about something else, so I don't post

I don't use them because I find them intimidating I guess, and I feel I don't really fit into them. I don't really watch anime, and I don't want to be purely associated to Nintendo, so I just stay out of them. Plus, they get really big, so I feel my voice gets lost in them.

In the thread I'm running, the Manga Thread, I try to be active with everyone so no one feels left out, but I'm just hoping it becomes a place where people can just talk about manga they're enjoying with others. That's how I've been doing it with mine. I dunno if mine counts as a mega thread now. xD It's still a small group of manga readers.
