I see nothing eye raising about that statement. Its basically this

"Are you going to make a controller for smartphones?"

"maybe"

Well when you see those controllers selling well that make phones look like gameboys and the like, you kinda get why they'd want a piece of that.

I just assumed as I've frequently seen them trending on facebook. I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean it's selling, but I've been tempted myself to buy one heh

Ive been thinking that, if Nintendo were to get into phone gaming, they might put out a well supported, high quality controller for their games. I'll buy one in a heartbeat if they do!

A nintendo developed controller would probably do more than say Mad Catz or AfterGlow if they promoted the controller during a Nintendo Direct.  You know, make it a thing that Nintendo intends to be a big deal.  They've already put their foot in the smart phone pool, might as well be different.

Make bluetooth the wireless connection in your controllers and you don't have to develop a controller for smartphones, you just need to develop a controller app.
