Forums - Sony - Take Killzone 2 date with "grain of salt"

Wow.. with the huge budget of this game, you'd expect that they would want to make everything perfect.

at the front page it says comming in 2008

@onyxmeth

I know you really really don't want it to come out this year due to obvious reasons ,,,but I am afraid it will

What are my obvious reasons? The fact that I don't own a PS3? The fact that I'm not the biggest FPS fan? The fact that i've had the "privilige" of playing Killzone?

To be honest, I would truly love it if these games came out next month, fully complete, and each sold millions of copies. That way, in a few months time, we'll have something else to talk about in this forum other than the same exact dozen games we've been talking about for longer than I and probably most of us have been here. It's enough already. Maybe it's just Sony's horrible PR but it seems like it's been forever since these games were announced. Both Microsoft and Nintendo keep the info pretty solid and move it along. Microsoft has been creating their 08 lineup through info over the last few months and Nintendo is keeping theirs silent till E3.

It would just be really nice for the 2 1/2 to 3 year gestation periods of these PS3 games to end and Sony can put out realistic time frames for games like their recent Resistance 2 and Motorstorm Pacifica announcements. I'm just getting so bored here waiting for PS3 domination to finally begin already.

Damn right about that. Nintendo 'PLAYS STUPID' most of the time with release dates. I'll give you examples. Right after Pokemon Gold and Silver were released, I saw pictures of Pokemon Stadium G/S (Japanese version) on the Internet, and then soon it was on the Japanese Nintendo website (after I sent an email to Nintendo). I sent weblinks of the websites that have the photographs attached to the email to Nintendo.

Nintendo (of America) said, "we have no knowledge whatsoever for these games. They are still to be announced in Japan." A week or so after that, Nintendo of Japan's website had shown the exact same screenshots with info on them.

Then with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, when I was on the Serebii Forums, people were already raving about all the new characters being shown (when it was released in September). I, along with a few other users on the forums, emailed Nintendo in August, before the Japanese release date of September (since we have seen screenshots on the Japanese Nintendo and Pokemon websites).

Nintendo said the exact same thing, "we have no knowledge whatsoever for these games. They are still to be announced in Japan."

Wouldn't surprise me, they want to make this a must-have. Maybe they'll get it right this time. I anticipate Resistance 2 more anyway.

Yeah, like Banjo 3, announced back at X06? That we have seen absolutley nothing of since? Or how about Alan Wake? Fable 2? Cry On? Or maybe Too Human, which has been a work in progress since the ps1 days?

Don't give me this shit about Sony announcing games way early and then act like MS doesn't do it too. Both have games that they announce way before hand (Mass Effect was announced how long before it was finally released?), and both have games that pop up out of nowhere (Gears 2, Resistance 2).

Nintendo is the only one relatively innocent of this, but even they have their share problems (I waited for Twilight Princess for well over a year after I pre-ordered it because of delays).

How do you know they haven't updated it recently?

Actually, it WAS updated recently. They added the "Coming in 2008" bit just a couple of weeks ago, which confirms that the game has NOT been delayed to '09.

Expect a November release.

This game will definitely come in 2008. GT5 might, but definitely not in Europe as already announced.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

well instead of getting pissed with the amzing 08 lineup getting delayed. shouldn't we just start hyping the 09 lineup???

09 games:

- God of War 3
- Final Fantasy 13
- Gran Turismo 5
- Killzone 2 (maybe)
- Final Fantasy Versus
- Twisted Metal PS3

compared to the 08 games:

- Resistance 2
- Haze
- GTA4
- Little Big Planet
- Home (not really a game, but cool)
- GT5: Prologue
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- SOCOM Confrontation
- Killzone 2 (possibly...no hopefully)
- LA Noire
- Getaway
- White Knight Chronicles

Okay so maybe I exaggerated, 2008 is still better than 2009 (so far). but you get my point.

It would be better to delay a game then to rush it out to meet a deadline. There is nothing more disappointing than a game with bugs in it.
