Maybe I should've proven my point better by showing just how thick N64 cartridge is?

I do agree, it's hardly fair to show a console media with a portable media. My mistake

Yes, because that would be such a better example despite the fact that the NDS cartridge can hold 4 times as much as the N64 cartridge can. Oh, you didn't know that?

By the way, you dodged my point again. You're good at that aren't you?

Wow, really? that matters now? How many times can blu-Ray hold compare to a cartridge?

And on the road, what would you rather carry?

This way?

Or this way?

Oh and now you're changing the subject again kingofwale! You do love to do that don't you.

The problem with your arguments is that you're making the wrong comparisons. Funny how this works isn't it. If you take away the boxes for game protection, we can see those little itty bitty DS cartridges are vastly smaller than CDs and far less likely to get broken or otherwise mangled when not packaged. If we put the boxes back on, the NDS box is smaller than the other box in almost every situation.

Although, now you're talking about bluRay storage capacity which wasn't even what I asked you about in your original post nor the point of this entire conversation beginning with my question about size. Did you mistakenly think my pointing out the difference between an outdated cartridge and a new one and the relative size improvement as an entry to discuss storage space? I don't know and I don't really care.

You see kingofwale, I don't think you thought through your original comment. In fact, I think you expected to make a hit and run comment but got called on it. In each post above, you attempt to sidetrack the discussion and lead it away from your original post because your original comment (the highlighted one in case you can't find it) is very silly. And in your above post you're trying to switch the subject from media size to storage space.

Now shoo kingofwale, your posts are blocking my view of a perfectly good thread.

What you do NOT get is that your "little itty bitty" DS cartridges holds "little itty bitty" data, Let's compare the most up-to-date media shall we?

DS cartridge: holds 258mb, smaller, bit thicker

Blu-Ray Disc: holds 50GB.  bigger, but thinner.

My original comments: the fact you can't store them like you can with CDs.

And that's my point exactly, There's no way you can store them like CD with comparable storage capcity.

Funny how you just won't admit a defeat and let it go.

I've got 2 little identical boxes. One holds 10 CD/DVD's, the other one holds 40 DS games.

10 DVD holds (depends on if it's DVD9) about 90GB of storage data

40 DS holds about (on max) about 10 GB of storage data.

storage capacity difference is why PS and Microsoft decided to go to Disc format in the first place, and why Nintendo switched to disc format in GC as well.

I love cartridges. It really is a shame they can't cut it today. I miss just having a box full of cartridges and being able to pull any game I want out of the box. Actually having to open the game case to get my game out? What do they think I am? an intensive labour guy? pshhh...

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Thank you for stating the obvious.  We aren't currently debating capacity, that issue was addressed way up top and is rather common knowledge.

You were suggesting the physical dimensions of the two mediums placed CD's at the advantage for storing them.  You've been informed otherwise.

I prefer carts.

I wish they could be brought back. Much more durable and faster.

Maybe as solid state media and flash memory becomes cheaper we might be able to switch back...

You can buy SD cards over 50 gb. Which is pretty much what a DS cartridge is. Disc is not the way forward over the next 5 - 10 years. I hope they arent as well. Spinning plastic is an old tech. Even with Blu Ray it's old. Instant access flash drives or Memory cards lije SD are far quicker in access and can hold massive amounts of data.
