Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. The reasons I had to limit what to recommend was because for one I'm not too interested in genres like simulation racing and some other mentioned. Secondly, I asked for games 4-5 years old because I don't want to have to worry about being able to handle the game. I don't have a PC that's set-up for current gaming. Thirdly, try not to recommend me games I can play on consoles. I'm looking for PC exclusives. I already have a 360, PS2 and Wii to play games like Portal, Fable and KOTOR on.

Baldur's Gate I and II is your best bet....

Myst(any) and Titan Quest.

yeah, if you're willing to play a turn based strat game Civ 4 if great. Also, I thought theif was a fun game.

Other than that, based on your limitations I would go with minesweeper or online hearts. Just look in your 'games' folder via start>programs

Sam & Max
Psychonauts

Get Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne then go to dota-allstars.com and download there map and just play that one map and never play Warcraft 3 just like me.

I would recommend (as somebody said) Roller Coaster Tycoon (the first or second one plus expansions) it's a fun game. Not the third one though because it's 3d and requires more computer power and because I really dislike how it feels more complicated to navigate the menus to build your park, I'd rather stick with the second one despite not being to ride my rides in first person. I'd also recommend The Sims because they're fun for a little while, but you really get screwed by the number of expansions :(

Anyway, I also recommend Descent Freespace and Freespace 2 because they're an awesome space combat experience. The game isn't officially supported anymore and the fan group has since taken the source code and made many improvements to the look of the game (not to mention there are some cool mods for it). You can also get it for free.

I would love to be able to play online hearts and minesweepe but my computer can't handle that much.

I think so far I'm definitely going to try out Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 after I finish Fallout 1 & 2. I've been meaning to pick a Myst up again. I haven't played one since Riven. Sam & Max i've always wanted to try out too. I'll give Thief a try also. Grim Fandango I own, so i'll definitely be giving it a spin.

How about Planescape Torment? Is it still worth going back and playing?

If you plan on playing System Shock 1 and 2, definitely give Deus Ex a shot. One of the best games I've ever played. Just don't play the second one (Deus Ex: Invisible War). That game was a travesty.
