almost every zelda game has a plot twist that change gameplay mechanics or the world. my theory is that at some point the entire overworld is going to change and will have technology because of some reasons, back to the past or something like that. maybe sounds too ambitious but Nintendo does this kind of stuff when they make masterpieces.

I was thinking something along the same lines where if you collect certain items or follow a certain story arc that the world does change in some fashion to the point where Guardians awake from their slumber. Or perhaps Link does travel to the past SNES style.

Because so little of the story and characters were touched on, anything goes right now. It'd really be cool if that old man is Ganon or something trying to lead you to finish something that he started without you knowing. That would be cool.

I didn't want to make a entire thread about this but it's also been speculated that the Shrines are named after each game developer that created BoTW. For Example:

Shrine Oman Au

If you rearrange it, you can spell Aonuma.

Tbh, I wouldn't bet on a broad, sweeping change like Ocarina of Time. Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword didn't do much differently at the half way point, and TP involved making a previously performed gameplay change available at any point in time.

Changing the overworld to be filled with technology (assuming it's something along the lines of what you've got in the OP picture) would require an insane amount of work that I seriously doubt any developer would put into a single game.

The twist is likely going to be in the back story, in BOTW the's one big difference over other games and that is everything has already happened and you need to fix it where as in other games the events leading up to the chaos take place as you're there and you stop it. It's like Bioshock where you arrive and hell has already broken loose and moved on.

Giving the wiiU's mic a bj everytime you want to have the Wind appear.
