If Nintendo listened to the kind of fans you're talking about, they'd be making a big budget game for every franchise they have every year. And they'd never ever make a spinoff.

No, actualy games that OP mentione proves nothing, beacuse basicly all games he mentione are only small projects/spinoof for curent users to fill gap until NX arives, there is nothing strange about that. |
Your post seems more of an arguement against the op instead of what I posted. What I mentioned in my post could be said of the wii u's library from it's launch til now and that was basically my point. Nintendo fans have been as grumpy as snakes all gen for several reasons but the lack of games from the big IPs certainly added to it. Who asked for spinoffs? Not nintendo fans.

Nintendo definitely wanted to release more game then they did, but they didnt handle more games, and Wii U was already dead. About Metroid Prime, I am sure we will have new Metroid Prime on NX.

Spin-offs are fine. Crappy spin-offs are not fine. Crappy spin-offs without a mainline entry are not fine at all.

to make games that the fans enjoy, which they have done numerous times this generation, ya they have released a few duds but that doesnt change that overall Nintendo still has a grest track record when it comes to making quality games that appeal to their fanbase.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

And those games that fans enjoy are typically quality games. The OP doesn't directly say it, but quality is what it all boils down to.

It's an example the OP listed. An example of Sony listening to its fanbase. But it's not like it stops there. In recent years Sony tanked SOCOM, Twisted Metal, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal, The Order 1886, the Vita on the whole... the point is it's easy to come up with a lengthy list of negative examples for the console manufacturer that the OP mentioned as what Nintendo should strive for. Since I am at it, neither Shenmue or Final Fantasy are Sony IPs, so what's left of the four examples the OP listed is The Last Guardian which has gone through development hell and isn't a positive example at all when you really think about it. It's an example of ill-advised gamer gratitude because people are now grateful that the game is coming out at all; Sony messed it up, then fixed their mess after a long time. And on the other side of the argument the OP managed to omit Zelda. It's a bad thread. It's terrible. It's incredibly onesided. It's a good example of starting with a conclusion and then cherrypicking the facts that fit said conclusion. The point I am making isn't that Nintendo is flawless, it's that the thread is garbage. |
This thread is about Nintendo ignoring feedback, not that everything they do is negative. People said they want a Traditional Mario Party so Nintendo make 4 games in a row that aren't.
People want a traditional Paper Mario, the past 3 in a row have not been traditional.
SOCOM, Twisted Metal, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal and The Order 1886 do not fit that bill.
The thread is in regard to Nintendo ignoring feedback, what has Zelda got to do with anything. There is no excuse to make 4 games in a series in a row that complete fuck up the original formula of the series and ignore all complaints from fans in reguards to it.

So because Mario Party and Paper Mario are small projects it's ok to repeatedly ignore feedback? What does that have to do with anything?
They don't care about what their fanbase wants. They just do whatever they want to do, if you like it good if not they don't care at all.
