Forums - Gaming - Eurogamer: Microsoft's mixed messages at E3 aren't pretty for Xbox One owners

Someone told me they were going to buy the new powerful xbox scorpio this year, Xbox One S.

You might be right about that.  However, it does not make it less frustrating.

Count yourself lucky I'm ultra frustrated right now as I'm a PC owner with a high end PC and now know I didn't need to buy an X1 you at least got a good deal buying a PS4 for me it's now money down the drain. The X1 has gone to my nephew now.

Yea not sure if it was you but it was like another poster said on this board people in your situation got screwed the hardest.

This is what happens when gamers become more obsessed about technical specs than games. We get consoles that are more powerful just so companies have something to brag about.

I see what they are saying, for me the message i got from the conference was "here are reason why you shouldn't buy a XBOX ONE"

I didn't read the whole thing but I get the idea. I do agree that MS' messaging was confusing. They have 100% risked cannibalising the sales of the Xbox One S.

Having said that, I think they had their hands tied. If they did not announce anything more powerful and then Sony announces the Neo, consumers will be under the impression that MS is going nowhere and Sony is already moving forward with more powerful devices.

Instead, MS made a preemptive strike which if it works, will have consumers think 'Scorpio looks better than Neo, maybe I'll wait and not get the Neo'. So, MS have cannibalised their Xbox One S sales but I think they have proactively done the same to Neo's. Only time will tell.

At this point no body cares anymore wich console is more powerfull, Playstation simply have all the 3rd party suport in the word and an impressive line up of exclusives. If anyone want to upgrade to Neo or Scropio they will most likely choose the Neo (and if the rumors are tru the Neo launches before the Scorpio wich would be even worse for MS). Most ppl wont bother with neither one of those consoles tough.

With all do respect, the sales gap is 2:1, not 10:1. MS is still a strong competitor and has strong 3rd party support (just look at EA access and every EA game coming out first on X1 as a single example).

People said the same about the 360 - everyone and their mates had one, surely the X1 would be the natural 'next step', nope, it reversed. Let's wait and see.

Someone made a comparison between Microsoft and Sega the other day. When you look at the messaging over the past 2.5 years... its really not fair to Xbox or PC gamers. It is obvious that at some point the entire plan for Xbox was thrown out the window. They bought into the propaganda about the PS4 being so much more powerful and so they abandoned the Xbox One. Phil stands on the strange and says no one is left behind after saying not a minute sooner that the Scorpio is all about VR. VR isn't coming to Xbox One or S so they got left behind.

The worst part that no one is mentioning is that they announced the Model S and Scorpio and they didn't give you a price rance for Scorpio. So... from a consumer perspective if I spend $400 on the S and next year the Scorpio is $600... and if they are so damn hot for VR now, I won't be able to play any of that content on the S...

And why does the Xbox even matter anymore when it is basically just an extension of Windows 10? Seriously, just stop calling it Xbox news. Its Windows 10 news.

ms message was clear at e3
even xbone 1 slim are  killing ps4 at amazon

I'm left wondering why there's often so much confusion surrounding major MS announcements. Remember the clusterbang that was the initial XB1 reveal? (Always online? No used games? No physical disks?) Just how exclusive is Tomb Raider? Now just what the hell is the Scorpio, really? Neither Sony or Nintendo seem to have this issue - if confusion arises from a public statement, solid clarification usually comes pretty quick.
