Forums - Sony - Sony about the PS4 Neo, new interviews

Sony will let Microsoft go first again.

They will wait for The Scorpio's fully confirmed specs and a price, before opening their mouths.

I don't see how this can be fair or even ethical, but it works.

Not this time around Sony can't afford to wait for Microsoft to reveal their hands before going forward with upgraded PS4K. VR customers will be expecting a revision right away. Sony does have the power of the brand and fan support to back them up. It is a game of chess between to giant of video games and will be very fun for the gamers to experience.

Sony plans on making money and current release windows for PS4 Neo might have been force to change based on this annoucement. Microsoft will be first in line to pick up a PS4 Neo and make sure Scorpio is 1.5-2x more powerful.

I hope. I'm one of them. I'm crossing my fingers for a PS4 Neo this holiday or spring 2017 at the latest. After they showed God of War I'm eager to get a PS4 but I don't want the regular PS4, I want a Neo and good VR.

Asked if this PS4 hardware refresh is the first sign of a new strategy for Sony where they’ll do more heavy-duty upgrades over a console’s lifecycle, House said:

To be very clear, the high-end PS4, code-named Neo, that we are working on is an addition to the existing line-up, not a replacement. And perhaps we have an opportunity to move slightly away from just a static console that remains absolutely the same for a period of six, seven. eight years, and perhaps offer, in addition to the current PlayStation 4, something a little extra.

So does that mean ps5 is still coming in 2019-2021? That doesn't sound like the start of a post generational console model, more like mid gen premium consoles instead of cheaper slim designs.

well it will be a more powerfull PS4 after all

Then i wonder how long will this console generation actually be, since they are about to launch a new PS4 that will only play PS4 games and and it wont be able to play more advanced games since the original PS4 will hold it back, so obviously while we are accepting iterations of the same hardaware at the same time generation leaps still exist, and im courious how many years we will have until the PS5, (here is hoping for at LEAST 4 more years, yeah i want that 7 year generation again).
