Four months ago AMD confirmed that one semi- custom will launch this year and two next year. The Xbox One S I using a semi- custom it enable 4k videos and HDR. So the PS4k will also need a semi- custom to work with 4k video so we can assume its the second one. Also, the PS4 already uses an AMD chip so it makes sense for Sony to continue to work with AMD. Then there's Microsoft. If they are trying to have an Xbox ecosystem of platforms they should use an AMD semi-custom. That would make the one release this year and two releases next year. 

If this is true then we can assume Nintendo has made a partnership with another company and they are not using the same type of architecture as the other consoles.

PSVR? They announced it's coming in October months ago and then said the 13th yesterday.

Why would the launch of PS VR mean the doom of the NX? One catters to PS4 owners alone and the other one is a brand new console.

Depends on what it is... NX has an uphill battle but if Nintendo can make it be unique, interesting and something people want, then it will certainly sell

Oh, I see. Well, it will depend of what the NX is. If it's just a regular console, it's going to have a hard time competing, but it could get an upgrade rather soon. If it's a hybrid, it will fare much better thanks to the remaining handheld market, but it's going to be limited in power by that same aspect. Only time will tell.

Nintendo is fighting a uphill battle.

Their mid gen, release cycle wont catch them any breaks because sony & ms will have mid gen upgraded consoles too.

They wont be the cheapest either, Base model of PS4 & XB1 will keep dropping in price.

Its gonna be hard.

ooooh alright! Yeah, maybe. I do think the NX will be in a tough spot when it launches.
