I'm not certain, but I believe EA just renewed their contract with Madden a year or two ago. Doubtful that they'd change the name now, risking consumer confusion AND having to pay Madden.

If this is true it kinda stinks. I love hearing Madden's insane commentary.

EA should be ashamed of themselves. Madden has yet to do as good of a job with presentation as NFL2K5. That game came out in 2004 and made better use of the ESPN license, had better commentary, integrated Sportcenter highlights with Chris Berman, injury and contract reports by Trey Wingo, and Mel Kiper doing draft analysis.

Ah cmon you need Madden as the commentator. His obvious remarks make every mistake that much damaging to your ego!

John Madden is such a horrible announcer that I can't even watch the NBC telecasts anymore. When I was younger it was kind of fun listening to him, now its like STFU let the smart guy talk. How he ever won a Super Bowl with the Raiders is beyond me.

Of all the problems with the Madden series, I don't really think the commentators made the list.

Madden needs some Jonathan Pearce or John Motson

I think SMBU is right, and Madden wasnt even an announcer last year. And the announcers should be the least of EA's concerns.

i mean last year the weather didnt even cover the entire field, only the middle, if you hit the button to widen the view and see your recievers - you would notice that it wasnt even raining on the edges of the field. they have yet to make even a "decent" next gen madden.

(for perspective - I buy madden opening day EVERY year, but the coming year will break that trend. will prob buy it, but buy it used)

I buy a new Madden every two years. Theres so little added every year that it is pretty pointless to buy every installment. Every two years not only redos the rosters to catch everything up, but has enough new gameplay to be worht it.
