Yeah, Sunset was a good game and it released on time. Ryse? I thought you said good games, not bad games. Titanfall, multiplayer only game, and obviously if they weren't on a time limit given by EA, it would have had a "real" single player campaign. Good for GTA V, it was a good game and it released on time. FH2 isn't differnet from the first? Really? In what way? I've looked at both games and they're pretty much similar. Of the few games you listed, only Sunset and GTA V actually meet your criteria. Of all the games that have released in the past 3 years, two, maybe a few more? That doesn't say anything for your case. I'm not sure what you're getting at with Uncharted. How was it going from linear maps to pretty big maps not a huge differnet. It's actually very different from the way first 3 because it's more lke The Last of Us. Delays are normal this generation and people have to get use to it especially with technology being so complicated, it takes time to make ambitious/different games. I mean just like Scalebound, Recore, and Crackdown got delayed. And just like how Nintendos only "ambitious/different" games Xenoblade and Zelda were delayed. |
Like I said, a 2 minute search. I could probably sit here for hours and give you a list of 100 'good' games that released on time and it would serve no purpose as you would still disagree lol (let's agree to disagree here).
Uncharted 3-4 used same game mechanics, same developers, same actors etc. There wasn't a lot that was 'new' per se. It wasn't a new IP from by a new studio that had to start from the ground up. It should have been easy for management to predict the release schedule. I still think it's a fantastic game but the change from 3-4 is no different from GTA 4-5 or Horizon 1-2. For the record, I have played and completed Uncharted 3 and 4, and Forza Horizon 1 and 2. The games got bigger, better and more polished but that does not warrent the excuse for constant delays.
Delays are normal this generation? No. I absolutely refuse to just roll over and let these companies make empty promises. Don't say a game is coming out in X amount of months unless you have every intention of releasing it. The problem is the industry knows they can get away with setting a release date with no intention of sticking to it. Games like DriveClub... there is aboslutely no way that Sony/Evolution management thought that game would come out at launch. It was no where near ready and they knew it. They lied. Simple as. Division, another joke. Not only are games being delayed but when they launched they look absolutely nothing like their initial showing.
As for 'but games are more complicated and it's more difficult to delelop' - again, no. Developers now code universally against x86 architecture. Last generation was more complicated, you had PC x86, Xbox PowerPC and PS3 Cell. Additionally, game engines are now easier to work with than ever before. There simply isn't an excuse for the never-ending delays.
99% of the time games are delayed because management a. had no intention to meet the intial launch date or b. have poor ability to predict a studios capacity in completing a game. I mean, look at a game like Duke Nukem. That game wasn't delayed because it was 'complicated'. It was delayed because they had lousy management who had laxed control over their teams and were unable to deliver.

I predict this will be the best game on PS4 this year.
