Forums - Gaming - I remember [videogame anecdote]

So many to choose from! I first got enticed by games when first playing Sonic 1 in the store and Mortal Kombat in the arcade in the early 90's. But jumping into Bo-Bomb Battlefield in Super Mario 64 for the first time was probably my most memorable 'wow' moment. Blew me away back in 96.

A memorable era for me was the 1998 holiday season when Zelda 64 and Metal Gear Solid duked it out (and to a lesser extent, Panzer Dragoon Saga). The Dreamcast's launch is another one. Fantastic lineup it had.

clocking Berzerk on my 2600, playing for so long I had blisters between my thumb and finger from the joystick. The enemies moved so fast on the screen at that level that levels were over in just a couple of seconds.

I remembering going to a Sears and seeing Super Mario 64 for the 1st time. I was used to 2D platform games, so playing a 3D game for the 1st time blew my mind. I was freaking out being able to move in all directions, riding a turtle shell, and running away from the giant chomp chomp. It was AWESOME!

There was also seeing Smash Bros Melee in a gamestop for the 1st time on Mute City. It was so fast and looked so good! I played it with Kirby and was blown away by it. The speed, the music and the cars zipping and hitting us. Another mind blowing event.

Such great times...

I remember when 99% of racing games weren't about which game had the most polygons in their cars

I remember beating Lu Bu for the first time on Dynasty Warriors 2 at Hu Lao Gate. Also having more than 1000 KO's at the same time. I was barely in high school.

Simpler times.

I remember when people played games because they were fun, not because of how realistic they looked. Those days are long gone.

Stop making stuff up.  That's not true and you know it, otherwise games like Ryse, The Order, and Crysis 3 would have been much more popular and recieved far less criticism.  There is no reason for you to derail this thread because people have different taste in gaming than you.

who's derailing anything? That's my honest opinion. You seem to be the only person who thinks this way. Quit reading too deep into things and getting yourself worked up over absolutely nothing. It really isn't worth it, right? From experience, I know friends who won't touch a Mario or Mine Craft because of how childish they look. Not because of how the games played. There was a thread a while ago where a user asked how do you play crappy kiddy games like Splatoon. If I didn't like something, I'd just go about my business and not make a huge scene about it in thread form.

I'm a retro gamer, that's how I feel. Sure I play new games but I've played with the best graphics and I've played with the worst. Atari VCS to PS4. One of the first things any human does is look at the object or subject. We're visual creatures. Graphics, naturally, are a huge selling point to people. For example, even though Star Fox Zero isn't the best game ever made, people were comparing it to Nintendo 64 graphics. They didn't question gameplay until they got their hands on it but most of the comments were about the graphics looking like a N64 or Gamecube game.

I didn't even necessarily make it know what "taste" in gaming I had. Why jump to the punch so fast? Why so eager to instagate? Why...so serious? This is my opinion in gaming. There is no way to factualize what you or I said. The smart thing to do would be to let me have my opinion and you yours. From experience, this is how I feel. If you feel indifferent, fine, but don't try and call people out on objective threads.

Edit: I see you're a tad sour because of one of your most recent wall posts. Please don't take that out on me, that's not how I think. Never had an enemy in my life, not gonna start now :)

I still remember the first time I played metroid prime, it was beautiful .

After a long game session of Metal Gear Solid 2 I get a codec message I find me a safe corner and answer it colonel accurately tells me" its 3:15 in the morning you've been playing for more than 5 hours turn off the game and go to sleep" I was so dumbfounded I did as I was told.

I'm not worked up.  I'm just saying that you're making stuff up.  You are instigating by telling other people that they're not playing for fun when you have no idea why other people play.  You're speaking for other people when you do not have that right.  That's arrogant.  I just got through playing a DS port on my PS3 and you're telling me that I'm playing for realistic visuals?  Ha.

Also, I have no idea what you're talking about.  There is nothing like that on my wall.

Playing Digimon World, minding my own business recruiting all the digimon I can. I happen upon a hacker digimon, beat him up and recruit him. To my amazement he has a unique jukebox, so I go to use this jukebox and the game crashes. Try again, and the game crashes. And apparently for NA version it is always like that. Ironic that this hacker digimon crashes your game as a feature :P.
