Again, not as polished as U3's sinking ship, but my point was that such setpieces aren't exclusive to Uncharted. :P

Don't see the hate. Its my second favorite Uncharted but what should be hated on is Uncharted 1 its meh.

The las of Us in 2013 is nothing compared to the revolution that OOT brought to the table in 1998, not even remotely close.

I'm about to marathon through the first three games for the first time over the next week or two. Curious to see if I agree with metacritic!

I suppose it won't really be fair since I got the collection though... probably cleaned up a lot of the original problems.

As for the question, I can't comment on this game specifically but I will say in the past that if a game is offering something few (if any) actually do (which Uncharted kind of does) and looks great in terms of graphics, reviewers often overlook the glaring faults in a game.

*Edit*: As I said, though, I haven't played so I can't comment on this instance specifically. It wouldn't be the first time a game was given a few passes for problems like those you described.

Can't say i liked anything about it, everything from gameplay and story to set pieces was bad. The first two U were probably the worse Sony first party games of last gen. Yeah Lair was better

u3 improved the story, puzzles and set pieces. Still average though. U4 fixed *almost* everything as far as an Uncharted game could ever fix itself while still being Uncharted. ND wanted to bury the IP and for good reason, after TLOU they are too good for it.

Hype, coming from an Uncharted fan. 2 deserves its score, even if it has dated a bit since 2009, and 4 deserves its score as well. 3 got love because people wanted to love it, really.

Because the games have higher scores? That's not the point.
TLOU just didn't had any kind of point to be called into, that actually exceeds highly on every aspect, and defines a new standard for a whole concept on the media.

I fear we'll never see a game achieve anything close to what TLOU did, it doesn't mean games won't evolve past it, but that there was just nothing, absolutely nothing, to be taken away from it (on top of having several things to be admired), and as deserving to be considered perfect as it does.

The AI is terrible. There you have something.
