I'm about to marathon through the first three games for the first time over the next week or two. Curious to see if I agree with metacritic!
I suppose it won't really be fair since I got the collection though... probably cleaned up a lot of the original problems.
As for the question, I can't comment on this game specifically but I will say in the past that if a game is offering something few (if any) actually do (which Uncharted kind of does) and looks great in terms of graphics, reviewers often overlook the glaring faults in a game.
*Edit*: As I said, though, I haven't played so I can't comment on this instance specifically. It wouldn't be the first time a game was given a few passes for problems like those you described.
