Forums - Gaming - Three Things That Drive You Nuts About Let's Players

There are many reason why Let's Players sometimes drive me nuts so here are my top three. What are yours?

1/ Warning their viewers that they're thorough and then promply walking passed 80% of the pick ups or hidden secrets
2/ Talking and joking through cut scenes. This is particularly galling during emotional moments.
3/ Trying far too hard to be funny.

Jacksepticye or however you spell it shouts everything, it really annoys me, just speak normally!

FIFA YouTubers are the worst. Pack opening and screaming when they get a player, when they're getting enough money from YouTube to buy that player a hundred times over with pocket change, and the completely fake way they cut it together that's not in order of how they opened then at all. "First pack" yeah right.

Talking over cutscenes is a good one, especially when they barely ever do it but the one thing into the entire game you want to see their reaction to they talk over it.

And Jesse Cox's, dragon Age Inquisition play through is painful, the beginning section that should take 15 minutes to do took him over an hour because he walked literally everywhere looking for loot that is literally useless.

I like Markiplier's LP's but sometimes he can come off as trying too hard to be funny or afraid of something, especially in later FNAF LP's where I can tell he knows what's coming and acts even more scared each time something small pops up.

Jacksepticeye for trying too hard to sound angry when 95% of the time he's just acting goofy, though that's usually his thing, it does irk me sometimes.

Angry Joe, when he plays games and acts all silly but by the time he puts out a video review he sounds mega pissed and that to me causes a split, almost like he's forcing himself to be angry and yet his previous LP's tell differently.

Total Biscuits old LP's used to annoy me a bit. Back with his Terraria LP's he partnered with Jesse and most of the time he made Jeese look like the fool with not much humor, almost like he wanted to sound sarcastic and nasty despite them both being friends.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I hate when they just stand still in the game and talk about other shit. News flash: your hands and mouth are different entities!

I've never really watched Let's Plays. Out of curiosity, why do you guys watch them? Is it to check out gameplay before you buy? Or see different strategies? Or just for entertainment? Or all three?

If you look at big let's plays like TLOU or UC4, you'll see a huge drop off of views after the first episode. Part of that will be lack of interest but a lot of it will be because people have watched the first episode to help them decide whether they'd like the game or not. I watched about 25 FULL let's plays for TLOU (played it myself 11 times) and the reason was to see their reactions to certain moments in gameplay and scenes.

Ah, I miss the Terraria let's play, it's a real shame they never finished it. Apparently Jesse wanted to finish it but TB was just fed up with Jesse's antics. I loved the humor of it personally, with TB playing the straight man and Jesse playing the wacky sidekick. I agree about TB though, I didn't like him at first, but he grew on me over time, and it was actually the Terraria let's play that made me like TB in the end.

I'd really like it if they did, especially since TB might not live for very long and it'd be a shame if he passed on without finishing an adventure they started. Jesse can be a bit of a handful sometimes, remember that time he flipped out and screamed into Dodger's stream?, it was pretty funny but that's how far he'd go to crack a joke.

Gotta say I crack up each time Jesse does his "gold in them hills" miner impression.

Talking through the cut scenes / key storyline moments in a game does bother me, as well as generally half-assing a section of the game where they either die alot or keep running around in circles because they're not paying attention or missed a key item.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I don't really watch Let's Players anymore. I only watch speedrunners, and on very rare ocassions, runners that play games under some random criteria (like killing bosses with the most useless weapon in the game).

I guess the things that I would probably dislike more is the player being terrible at the game but still receiving 100 dollar donations, making some forced, not-so-funny jokes and overall thinking he's the best among the best.
