Their President said a few months back that they're following the tech but have no real immediate plans for it so the rumours are very unlikely tbh.

-Apparently lots of Wii U owners here want third party games on the NX. 

- I think in terms of consoles, better power will give an advantage. Just look at the PS4. 

-Hopefully with better power, nintendo franchises will be mucccccchhhh better. And Nintendo can incorporate more stuff into their games. 

Hopefully, the NX at least turns out to be on par with the PS4. Sony and Microsoft's new refreshes obviously change the game a bit for Nintendo if they want to secure 3rd party support. The NX is going to need a bit more power under the hood if they want to attract 3rd parties.

That rumor saying that the NX will be a bit weaker than XOne would be bad news, in my opinion. If that is the case then I really don't know why Nintendo doesn't just stick with the Wii U because they will not be getting 3rd party support if they launch the NX as the weakest console.

They've been working on NX for like 3 years now. You don't just throw in something as expensive and R&D heavy onto the platform you've been working on only a year before launch, especially not when they already have a "brand new concept" in mind, and a second screen that directly conflicts with VR. I don't buy it.

To tell the truth, first and foremost I want it to be cheap. I've purchased my new gaming rig (ok, I'm still waiting for the RX 480 to come out ), so I won't buy a single multiplat on a console (bar FIFA). I want a Nintendo console for Nintendo exclusives, the cheaper the console is, the better. I need Mario Kart!

Thats true. Was the PSVR got announced/rumored when the PS4 was revealed? 

I think morpheus rumors started a year later, but I honestly don't remember, so don't trust that.

Depends what you mean when you say weak.
I expecting to have similar power to XB1/PS4, in best case power just little above PS4.
