So Naughty Dog has stated that this will be the last Uncharted game (again). They seemed to be a bit more adamant this time but do we really think that it will be after that ending?

First of all I just want to say I thought the ending to Uncharted4 was perfect in my opinion, there were rumours that Nate might be killed off but that would of been a big mistake, he's too much of a likeable character. So instead they've retired him from his illegal treasure hunting (which he thrives on) and now treasure hunts legally, therefore he stills get the adventure he wants without the chance of death to himself and having to kill hundreds of bad dudes.

More to the point now Is, they have introduced a new character; Cassie, Nathan and Eleanor's daughter who like Nate and Eleanor is massively into her adventure and exploration and can climb (her posters around her room show this) she's also into her archeology and history and basically is just as curious as Nate and Sam were when they were younger. Before the credits roll She discovers Nates secret stash of illegal adventure stuff and this only makes her more curious.

I can't help feel that adding Cassie into the story is Naughty Dogs way of giving themselves something to come back to, they've said how much they enjoy making Uncharted games and I feel they've added Cassie so they can come back but with a fresh protagonist and keeping it close to Nathan Drake, hell he can even still be in the next ones.

So what do you think about it? You reckon they're done or do you think they're just playing again and are planning on making Cassie the next Nate?

I really hope Naughty Dog is done with the series, and I hope Sony is done too.

It was a great ending to a mostly excellent series. Really, a perfect ending from a narrative point of view. I know the Uncharted brand is strong and a big money-maker, but my hope for ND and Sony is go out on top with this one.

A new game will make that amazing end of UC4 feel pointless and all that, like we went through this amazing last adventure with an amazing departure of the characters just to end up feeling cheated with a new game, just because they want to milk it.

People who wanna waste the opportunity too make something fresh and new, just to play the same game, cuz you know a franchise never dive to deep away from what made that game awesome, a new game, new opportunities to push further ahead

I think so. They also wont be making tlou2. A new jak will be their next gam i hope!

The only way to do a sequel now would be as a midquel before the last bit of 4, or to take over as Cassie. I doubt either of those are happening, because by the time Cassie takes over what else is left to find? And Nate/Elena clearly don't have any memorabilia of any extra events in that final scene. I guess you could argue since there's no/very little Golden Abyss memorabilia either that there may be adventures where Drake didn't find anything, but then that means no collectibles either, and if you're changing the core of Uncharted it's not worth it to even make the game.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Let's not forget there's a single player story DLC coming up. After that, yes, they'll be done with the franchise.

The most I could see they do is a spin-off with Cassie or even Nate with only platforming and exploring, because they are done with dangerous exploration.

I think ND are done with it but not sure if Sony are. I can see prequels similar to Golden Abyss. I just think Uncharted might be too big for Sony to drop. You never know though, Cassie could continue the adventures but I can't see it.

I think they've certainly left the door open for Uncharted as a series to continue, with either Cassie or Sam and Sully. I think short term, Naughty Dog are done, they'll work on The Last of Us 2 and then a new IP, but longer term they may come back to it. I hope they don't, because of the expectations around what makes an Uncharted game/story I kinda feel it limits what that they are able to do, and I want to see Naughty Dog flex their creativity.

Obviously Uncharted is big for Sony, I'm sure both they and Naughty Dog are smart enough to know if another studio works on future games, that ND are very much involved on a supervisory level.

Naughty Dog stating that this was their last Uncharted game, they were smart to introduce Cassie.

Because they kind of put it out there that if Sony wanted to make another Uncharted game they may have to use Cassie since Nathan is old and retired, leaving all the Nathan Drakes game untouched incase future Uncharted game/spin off games doesn't live up to the originals.

But yes I think Naughty Dog is done with the franchise.
