The first-person shooter, based on the Turok franchise that debuted in 1997, launched on February 5 this year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Touchstone also announced that it will be releasing five new multiplayer maps on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on March 27. The content, dubbed the Velociraptor Pack, will cost 400 Microsoft Points ($5) on Xbox Live or $4.99 on PlayStation Store.

Touchstone said that two of the five multiplayer maps are brand new, one is a new co-op map, and the other two are "relit" versions of existing maps.

A "Game With Dev" event is scheduled for Wednesday (today) from 3-6 P.M. PST on Xbox Live, so gamers can match up against Propaganda.

Developer Aspyr is optimizing a PC version of the game, which is slated to arrive on April 22.

Descriptions of the new multiplayer maps are below, as supplied in a Touchstone press statement:

Co-Op – A brand new Turok co-op map for 2-4 players. In this co-op map your Whiskey Company squad has been captured and is being held in a Mendel-Gruman facility designed for holding dinosaurs. You and your team have to break out and make it to the rescue chopper before the Wolf Pack troops decide to feed you to the captured raptors.

Desolation – A brand new swamp-based map where simple structures are set up alongside a rock cliff to allow helicopters and transports into the area to bring in supplies. There are many hiding spots on this multi-level map which enables numerous quiet kill opportunities.

Sentinel – Another new multiplayer map and one of the largest Turok maps to date. The setting takes place at the top of a mountain around one of Kane’s orbital defense arrays - the very base that shot down the Whiskey Company ship from orbit in the single-player campaign. Also, the presence of a few large dinosaurs on the map can make things very interesting during multiplayer combat.

Inconclusive Tests – This time the Testing Grounds map takes place at night and offers a different view of the world that now contains more dark hiding spots. A word of caution -- watch out for the raptors.

A Rivalry Continues – As the name suggests, the struggle for the compound from A Heated Rivalry is not over and has extended into the eerie darkness of the night.

The Propaganda Games-developed sci-fi dino blaster Turok has shipped over 1 million units worldwide, according to publisher Touchstone.

 

from what I've heard its a decent game, well done Turok, guess that means a sequel and DLC are inevitable now

I don't remember the Turok series being too spectacular...is this any different?

im happy to see turok making money again, even though i disliked the demo...

I liked the Turok series, especially Seeds of Evil, and the demo absolutely terrified me with how bad it was. I do not wish having to play this game upon anyone.

Ive heard it wasnt that great. Im surprised it has shipped 1 mln already. If accurate though, more power to it. I cant complain when video games succeed.

Well I had a blast with the original turoks on the N64. The death animations where just so great back them. That stuff really seemed next gen back in those days. I also liked sniping with the bow and arrow.

i own it. its pretty good the online is fun and the campaign is good. the only down fall is the shooting. the aiming is horrible. i usually never fire my gun online and just knive people

^^that is what I have head about it. There is no aim assist and the recoil on guns makes it difficult. But in the online matches you can bait the dinosaurs into attacking your enemies and the knife kills balanced out the crappy shooting.
